An Outfit, Artwork, and my Random Fish…

I had this idea lately that I wanted a fish. Well…here he is! I named him Gus. He’s a little Betta fish and he lives in a pink castle. He seems to be enjoying his new home!

I spent roughly two hours sitting at Barnes & Noble last night, sipping a blended mocha in the café section of the store and flipping through international travel books. For some reason, I just really enjoy looking at such books, because I’m fascinated by other countries and cultures. So, I was reading through a book on Spain and another on the Netherlands (subconsciously must have been curious about my ancestral roots, I guess? I left out a book on Italy, though! Next time. 😉 ) . All the pretty windmill photos and tulips inspired me to draw this little piece of art. I used Prisma color pencils.

Today’s outfit!

I look barbaric in this photo…like I just ruthlessly obtained a piece of land and claimed it with this stick.

Nah, not barbaric at all! A cheesy, nerdy gal at heart.

So, this top I purchased at Forever 21 awhile ago, and it’s super comfortable and light! Perfect for this time of year (although today, it’s considerably cooler). The skirt, I bought at Forever 21 also. Side note: the air quality here in Central California is awful right now. There are 3 major fires going on north and south of the valley, so the smoky air is collecting here and you can see the veil of smoke in the sky. Yet I am writing this on the patio of a Starbucks, breathing in lightly smoked air…smart of me to be doing so? Probably not!

The big ring – made by moi…and you can find it here!

Later this week, or probably even tomorrow, I’m going to attempt to cook something new. Now, I’m not really a great cook. I can make vegetables taste really good by cooking them on the stove, seasoning them, etc., or things of that nature. This time, I’m going to step it up a notch and try Spanish cuisine! I decided on patatas bravas. I figure it can’t be too terribly difficult, and I’m going to bake the potatoes instead of frying them.

We will see how that goes. If they turn out photo-worthy, you’ll see pictures! Haha.

Have a great Wednesday! ❤

  1. That castle is adorable! No wonder Gus loves it.

Your drawing is lovely; I’ve always been intrigued by the Netherlands, partly because of the tulips and windmills, partly because of that whole alias (Holland) thing.

But, my favorite part of this post is this:

“I look barbaric in this photo…like I just ruthlessly obtained a piece of land and claimed it with this stick. Nah, not barbaric at all! A cheesy, nerdy gal at heart.”

This fellow cheesy nerd laughed out loud!

    1. Same here! I’ve always been intrigued by the Netherlands and there really is something alluring about the tulips and windmills. ❤ And hooray for us cheesy lady nerds! Glad you got a good laugh out of that. 🙂
