Music Spotlight: JJ Brown

Hey everyone!!!

I’m doing something a little different today in this blog post. I’d like to feature a spotlight on a local musician that I know!

My family and I met JJ Brown in 2009, when my sister sold her jewelry outside of a natural food store called Bentley’s (now Lassen’s), and he would play live music. Fast forward to present day, and my mom and I enjoyed a night at The Tasting Room Saturday night to watch him play a live show!

“JJ Brown is a veteran of the United States Navy, and served during the War Against Terrorism and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is also a Berklee Music Graduate, Member of the Recording Academy, BMI featured songwriter, local “Rising Star”, and Actor. He has shared the stage with artist like Clint Black, Kevin Costner, Peter Frampton, the Doobie Brothers, Austin Webb and Drake White.” – courtesy of jjbrownmusic.com

I truly enjoy his music, because you can hear the passion he has through his voice and his heartfelt lyrics; it shows clearly during his live performances, and he can easily captivate an audience. His musical style is so down-to-earth and emotionally open, that you feel as if you know him personally just through his lyrics.

For me, my two favorite songs of his would be “nineteen19” and “Say a Little Prayer”. ❤

“nineteen19” is a feel-good, story-telling style song that takes you on a musical journey through JJ’s time in the U.S. Navy.

“Say a Little Prayer” is a beautiful, poignant tribute to those serving in the military. When it was played live at The Tasting Room, many people (myself included!) were trying to hold back tears.

You can check out more about JJ Brown here!

‘Til Next Time! See ya!
