Meeting a Peacock, a Tea Party for One and D-Day Thoughts

Hi!! As you can see, my blog post title doesn’t lie. Featured here is me with a random peacock that was hanging out in the shade at Casa de Fruta in Hollister, CA earlier today. πŸ˜€

My friend and I went for a drive this morning to have coffee in Modesto, then spontaneously decided to drive to Casa de Fruta. ❀️

I discovered a hidden river… πŸ™‚
A dreamcatcher in a tree…
A GIGANTIC PEACOCK IN A TREE…
I match the grass…

πŸ’• I paired the outfit with my pink heart barrettes, which I find myself wearing quite often. πŸ’•

Today was really exciting, going for an out of town trip for the day! This past week was super quiet, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. The greatest part was that my sister and I have been going for walks together (she uses a walker, so getting exercise helps her build muscle). It’s good for me too because it’s additional exercise, apart from my regular workout routine I do at home in the later evening. πŸ˜€

I went for my favorite tea at Teazers on Tuesday and Friday evening: tiger spice chai. Friday night, the shopping center its located in was bustling with activity; apparently, a new movie called Avengers came out. There were so many people everywhere, but not inside Teazers. I had the back seating area practically to myself for the longest time, while I read the above book and watched people go by next to the floor-to-ceiling windows. It’s lovely because I go in the early evening, and the sun slowly starts to lower in the western sky and casts a pretty golden glow onto everything on my table.

I’m reading D-Day by Stephen E. Ambrose. I have waited SO LONG to start this!!!! I finally finished The Decameron by Giovanni Boccaccio, which took me waaaaay less time to finish than I expected (it was 800 pages, and I started it in February. I thought it would take me like six months to finish, but nope, only two!)

Pass me my book…and my tiger spice chai pleeeeeeeeease

I really love Stephen E. Ambrose’s writing style; I’m familiar with his work, as he wrote Band of Brothers, which is one of my all-time favorite books (I love anything about the 101st Airborne Division). I’m only 65 pages into this one, but apparently there are excerpts in D-Day from Band of Brothers, so I know I’ll enjoy that. πŸ˜€

HOOKED. D-Day is an outstanding book thus far and I just can’t seem to put it down. The writing style makes me feel like I’m literally there in the action – like I can imagine hearing the C-47’s flying overhead. I also enjoy reading about the strategies and planning that went on behind the scenes from the perspective of the Allies and Axis Powers, which the book goes into. I’m a fast reader but I’m trying to read it more slowly so it’ll last longer!

See ya!! πŸ’œ

Happy Easter!!! πŸŒΈπŸ’œ

I hope you all are enjoying this lovely Sunday! I enjoyed a nice church service, ate Cadbury eggs for breakfast, and now I’m out having coffee with my sister and enjoying the fresh, spring air! And will probably eat more chocolate later.

Those rings up there are actually cupcake toppers! The dress is from Forever 21. πŸ’™

Happy Easter!! See ya!

Pretty in Pink

Hey there!!

For some reason this past week, I’ve watched Pretty in Pink (1986) like three times. I forgot how much I really love the movie and it’s definitely a favorite of mine. I admire Andie’s unique fashion sense and my favorite part is at the end, when she tells her dad before leaving for the prom that she’s going by herself. That, and her prom dress was absolutely killer!!!

I’m definitely on team Duckie, just to be clear. He always supported Andie’s “volcanic ensembles” and was genuinely a sweetheart, with a really cute personality AND cute teeth, no less. πŸ’œ

HOWEVER. I still can’t help swooning over Steff’s dreamy 80’s hair…*sigh*

I just now realized I am literally almost as old as this movie, haha!! Now back here in 2019…welp, here I am in a pink frock with a bell-shaped-sleeve blouse that just so happened to match the dress color, perfectly! I love when that happens.

Good times, people. What would I do without my eccentric and fun outfits???? I’d be pretty bored, to make an honest guess. I love putting together “volcanic ensembles”. πŸ˜‰

See ya next time!!

Edwardian

Welcome!! πŸ’œ

These two outfits I recently wore, are a very very modern twist inspired by Edwardian fashion. I’ve always adored the fashion from that time period (the years were between the 1890’s to about 1914).

Lace and gloves are a delicate combination I really admire. Taking from clothing and accessories I already have, I came up with a super pink ensemble! The pink lace top and cardigan are from Amazon; the skirt is a recent purchase from Forever21.

I made the red choker myself; I simply glued a rhinestone onto the elastic red ribbon. ❀️

Onto the next outfit; the above photo is another example of a signature Edwardian blouse. I did my own take on it using a vintage brooch I own and simply pinned it onto my blouse for an instant Edwardian flair!!

Overall, I really love how they each turned out!! My creativity has been coming forth very strongly lately through fashion. Which isn’t anything new for me, but with some additions lately like wearing gloves and adding vintage brooches.

‘Til next time!!

Spring and Unicorn Appreciation

Hi peeps!!

Last weekend, I went for a nice walk with a friend of mine, where I was able to truly appreciate spring in full bloom! 🌸 I even wore my springy lace gloves, so you know I meant business…

Blink blink!

I love going for walks during spring, because my curious inner child comes out to play. I love looking at the plants, and observing the behavior of creepy crawlers I spot along the way!

SO!!! Tuesday was National Unicorn Day, I recently learned. I follow Sweet Lyfe Boba Bar on Instagram, which is a local boba shop in my city with super cute food and beverages. I saw that they were having a celebration for National Unicorn Day, so my sister and I went there for unicorn-themed treats!!!

And I got to pose in front of this super cute backdrop they had set up! πŸ’œ

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Everything was cuteness overload! It was a really fun morning. πŸ’œ

See you next time!!

Pass the Banjo

Hi, y’aaaaaall. For the record, I don’t play the banjo. But with my big hair paired with my gorgeous new gingham dress, it looks like I should!

Need I say more? I’m not sure who this woman is but she’s adorable, and we have somehow managed to coordinate outfits without even knowing. And decades apart, at that!!!! My sister sent me this photo and said it reminded her of me, by the way. That’s how I discovered my outfit twin.

This is a handmade dress from She’s a Mermaid Cat over on Etsy! She sews the most incredible clothing and I’m a huge fan now! I look forward to buying more dresses from her in the future! The clothing she makes is beautifully retro and sweet, and amazing quality to boot! πŸ’œ

In other news, guess who bought herself a ticket to see Ghost in September?!?!?! This will be my third time seeing them!

This is going to be a fresh experience for me in the sense that…I’m going by myself! I’ve never been to a concert by myself in my life! It’s out of town, but fortunately not a far drive at all.

I’m actually pretty proud of myself to be honest, because I never thought I’d have the courage to go to a concert alone (but I mean heck, I’ll be surrounded by hundreds of other people!). I go everywhere from coffee shops, walking at the park, to dining by myself with no hesitation, but a concert is something I have yet to try! So yay for climbing over those comfort zone obstacles!

Hope you enjoyed!! See ya!

Spring Green

Hi hi!!

I’ve really grown fond of pale green. πŸ’š This color makes me think so much of spring! I wore this over the weekend.

Close-up of the accessories: vintage necklace (thrift find), choker (gift from my sister), and butterfly hair clips. πŸ’š

I really really loved this outfit!! I love this shade of green because it fits into my whole pastel aesthetic.

Like my new hairbrush?! It’s a seashell!!! πŸ’œ

‘Til next time!!
