Hi!! π
What happens when I wear a completely neutral-colored ensemble??? *gasp!* I make sure there’s a splash of color somewhere – in this case, it was on my feet (and hair clips):

As I’m sure you GUESSED…the fish are iron-on patches, transformed into hair clips. My head was basically an aquarium for a day. Thanks for all that you have, Joann Fabric! π Where would I be without you? Where else would I have been inspired to put fish in my hair?
So!!! Ever since I put up my Christmas tree last weekend, I thought it would be fun to do a little house tour, since I haven’t done one in awhile. I’ve changed things around since, and why not showcase some of my favorite things/areas around the house?

The first and last thing I see when I flip on/off my bedside lamp is a photo of an East German soldier passing a carnation through a crack in the Berlin Wall (my favorite photo of all time).

James Cagney and Jean Harlow looking too-cool-for-school on my wall.

A newspaper photo from the Iraq War that I’ve kept since 2004. I saw it in the paper as a teenager and cut it out; it really spoke to me.

This is literally how I store my butterfly hairclips, hahaha! π

Hope you enjoyed a glimpse of my colorful little world! π
See you next time!!

Hi Sammy! Oddly this is my facorite blog .. well one of my favorites! You look gorgeous as always! Cute fish clips! You are very inventive! I did not realize they were cloth/ stitched/ embroidered patches at first! The picture of the German soldier passing a carnation through a crack in the Berlin Wall kinda actually looks like me when I was younger. Like when I was 19 or 20 years old. I am 1/2 German so that makes a little sense I guess. ( Side note Red and White carnations are my favorite flowers and also the tiny flowers like little blue Forget-me-nots) The Newspaper clipping from Iraq War does have allot of emotion in that photo! I am glad you like the little gift I had made for you and those candles look like they smell amazing! Also how you keep your butterflies is awesome! Looks like a bouquet of butterflies! Love the tour of your room!

Thanks so much!!! Red and white carnations are beautiful; I can see why they are your favorite! I learned since that red carnations were commonly given at official events in East Germany. The canvas print you sent me is beyond amazing – thanks again! The candles indeed smell wonderful. Glad you enjoyed the little tour! π

There’s something to be said for wearing neutrals to make your accessories pop! I’ve always loved these shoes, and your new fish barrettes are adorable. Well done! I really enjoyed looking at your home decor, too. It’s girly, eclectic, and nostalgic — so, very you! My favorites are the hot pink boa-framed Cagney and Harlow and the Lisa Frank calendar. It’s so much fun to surround yourself with beautiful things that you love. No wonder they say that there’s no place like home!
