The Magic of Books and My Fashion Challenge to Explore Different Colors

While perusing my bookshelf at the end of the hallway today, I came across this book that I realized I hadn’t read yet, which surprised me. Stephen E. Ambrose is the author of my all-time favorite book, Band of Brothers, and he also wrote D-Day – which I loved, too! I quickly decided that this would be my next read, as I haven’t read anything in awhile.

I never go very long without reading a military-themed book. Specifically, historical ones such as this. Stephen E. Ambrose in particular writes amazing work; his writing style makes the soldiers he writes about come to life, surpassing time, as if you know them personally. I’ve mentioned this before, but I read Band of Brothers for the first time when I was fourteen, and it was the one book that made me feel not so alone in life. And if a book does that for you, don’t ever let it go! I still re-read it from time to time to this day, and it still gives me that same feeling, twenty years after the first read. If that’s not magic, I don’t know what is. ✨

✨ Magical ✨

So, I’m excited that I’m reading a new-to-me book by this author!! The best way I can describe how inspiring Ambrose’s writing has been for me, is that even long after I’ve read a book by him, I still think about it at unexpected moments during my day. I’m thankful for such books and authors who manage to provide a sense of belonging for some of us within the pages of a book. ❤️

On a final note – two outfits! I gave myself a fashion challenge and I’m trying to explore different colors. Here I explored with purple and blue. 💜💙 I am learning I REALLY love purple!!!

See ya next time, folks!! 💓

  1. That’s so cool that you discovered a new-to-you book by your favorite author! You write so beautifully about Band of Brothers, and books in general: “I’ve mentioned this before, but I read Band of Brothers for the first time when I was fourteen, and it was the one book that made me feel not so alone in life. And if a book does that for you, don’t ever let it go!.” They say that if you have books, then you’re never alone, and I’ve always agreed with that too. Anyway, way to take on the purple challenge! Your plaid skirt, ruffled socks, and gingham top are so cute. But the flower barrettes are my favorite purple piece. Challenge completed! 🙂

  2. I love band of Brothers! The book and the video series: Although its hard to watch visually sometimes: I too think of that story from time to time: esp when I think I’m having a bad day LOL. I’ll have to check out that book you’re reading now. Love the pictures, esp the first one! Well written Samantha as usual.
