The movie Can’t Hardly Wait (1998) is one of my favorite comedy films EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The film is set at a house party, in celebration of a graduating class that’s out of high school and ready to party one last time before everyone goes their separate ways.
It’s a star-studded cast (to name just a few – because there are a ton of well-known celebrities in this one! – there’s Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ethan Embry, and Seth Green). The movie is loaded with so much ’90s nostalgia, from the clothes to the music played throughout the film (Third Eye Blind, Blink 182, Smash Mouth…again, just to name a few – there’s lots!) 💛
But what person stood out to me the most in this crowded house party of a film? A person without an official character name and had no lines: what I call, ‘the Banana Girl’ (played by actress Amber Benson), who is very briefly seen only for mere seconds, scrutinizing a banana as the camera passes by.
I sort of felt like that would totally be me at a party: no one talking to me, and amongst my own isolation in a crowded room, I’d begin observing something random within reach, like a banana. More specifically though, it’s the green googly-eyed ring adorning her hand that caught my attention, too!
Thanks, Banana Girl, for sporting such a whimsical and fun accessory that inspired me to buy my own!
I’m eyeing my puppet hand here. Somehow, I don’t trust this guy. 👀
