A Walk on the Wild Side

Hey hey!! 😀

Welcome back to another episode of……my very quiet existence. How are you all? Hopefully good???

Outside of my freelance work, the week consisted of:

  1. Reading until my eyeballs nearly rolled out of my head (I finished Band of Brothers, and began Lions of Kandahar.
  2. Doing copious amounts of Swedish lessons.
  3. Going to my usual coffee spots each day and also eating Indian food!!
  4. Walking a bit at the park.
  5. Watching a short documentary on the 82nd Airborne.
  6. Made the bad decision of watching a scary movie late at night. I watched The Lost Boys (1987), which I had never seen before, but I’m currently obsessed with the theme song Cry Little Sister (the original track and also Marilyn Manson’s recent cover of it!). So I watched the movie, even though I was scared to!!! And I appreciated the 1980’s aura and the comedy but I just can’t do the whole vampires and blood thing… 😓

And now, we have an outfit:

Leopard print isn’t a pattern I typically wear, but when I saw this top hanging on a shelf at H&M, it was love at first sight. Glad I bought it, because it’s cute and super comfortable! ❤️

Because sometimes, you just have to take a risk. Even if the risk is wearing a pattern you don’t typically wear. I live on the edge like that.

You know, this is exactly why I’m fascinated with reading about military operations and soldiers jumping out of airplanes. Because they take some seriously major risks in life, unlike meeeee…

Well, the risks I took this week were wearing a leopard-print top and watching The Lost Boys. But dang it, I did it!!!!!!!!

If you like the shirt (and the shoes!), you can find them both at your nearest H&M, I’m sure! 😀 I bought them only a week ago. What is a risk-taking pattern you’ve worn that you ended up really liking? I kinda want to try a tropical-pattern blouse next, like with pineapples on it or something…

See ya!

Summer Days, Summer Nights

Hi! Happy summer to you all, dear readers. 😃

Orange is a color that I’ve grown to really appreciate. Not only is it a nice color in general, but it really pops against my skin tone, I’ve learned. That, and hot pink is a nice addition to it!

Distracted…
…’kay, my attention has returned.

I’ve definitely been leaning towards oranges/hot pinks/corals, which really look nice against a summer tan. ❤️

On a hot summer evening, I feel especially drawn to meander out somewhere for either an iced beverage or something to eat, with a good book for company. Some mac n’ cheese at Panera was something I hadn’t had in a long time, so I went for that!

I firmly believe a book can be your best friend. For instance, the above book is one that, no matter how many times I read it, I always come back to and have ever since I first read it when I was 15. It’s one of those books that’ll stay with me throughout life.

My highly anticipated book line-up, after I finish reading Band of Brothers for the 5,000th time of course! Sunday evening, I went to Barnes & Noble not just to peruse the aisles this time, but to intentionally go and pick out these two books I really wanted.

Have I mentioned how much I love reading? 😉

Here’s a shot of my car, Jude, that I took the other night after a walk. It was the most gorgeous sunset I’ve seen in a while!

I love this time of year, and all-around, I’m feeling really good right now; my career life has changed and I’m now working as a freelance graphic designer. I lucked out and through a connection, I’m designing logos, graphics, etc. for a bay area business and rather than being in an office, I work remotely and do everything from my very own laptop! Like, I’VE BEEN DOING MY WORK AT STARBUCKS. Could I ask for anything better than that!!!!!!?

It’s the most ideal job I could possibly ask for, so I really hope this can be my new thing. One day at a time, as I always say!

Here’s to more beautiful summer sunsets. See ya!! ❤️

Strawberry Love

Welcome! 🍓

Tuesdays are always farmers market day for me, as my friend has a booth she sells handmade goodies at. So I always stop by in the evening to hang out with her. This Tuesday though, they called it the Strawberry Festival, so many strawberries were to be expected, including me wearing them. Behold!!!!!!!!

The festival was a lot of fun, and there were some yummy strawberry items to choose from. I feel like my outfit went super perfect with the theme! 😉

I ended up choosing an angel food cake slice with frosting and strawberries. Yummmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!

It was a very fun thing to do as summer approaches. What do you all enjoy doing in the summer?? I like anything outdoors that involves fruit, haha!

See you next time! ❤️

Rococo Puffs

Hey hey!! 💜

I made my own cuff sleeves. NICE, NO??? They are detachable, which is even better! They paired well with this lace white top. It’s an easy way to add a retro look to a shirt!

The white flower puffs in my hair kind of look like snowballs from a distance. Puffy snowballs? It works. YEEEEEEEAH

Overall, I think the outfit turned out really cute! The top has KIND OF a rococo era feel – albeit a very casual version of it. WHICH IS A FAVORITE FASHION ERA OF MINE, SO, SUCCESS. 💜 Why am I yelling?

I love the pastels, the frills, the jewelry, even the furniture from that time period!

My lace top and added sleeves remind me of this dress from Marie Antoinette, featuring Kirsten Dunst. ❤️ And while we’re at it, let’s admire some more rococo style (and let’s please stop and drool over these shoes!!!!!!!!!!)

On a last note, check out my latest statement necklace I made! 💕

See ya next time!!! 💜

Feel the Heat!

Happy beginning of June!! ❤️

The heat is on in good ol’ central California (in fact, it hit 100 degrees today and the party got started by there being a three-hour-long power outage across parts of the city. Heat-related electricity issues, which tend to happen when we hit the triple digits here!)

But I didn’t mind. It was quite the beautiful day (I love the heat) and I had iced coffee this morning and then meandered over to my favorite organic market and ate a refreshing salad on the patio, watching the towering, puffy clouds off in the distance over the mountains. 💜

With the heat, I thought it was a great time to finally wear this cute, handmade off-the-shoulder top I bought at She’s a Mermaid Cat over on Etsy. I bought it months ago but at the time it was too cold to wear. It made its debut today, and I looooooooooove it!

Along with my vintage floral skirt, I think it turned out to be a super cool outfit, with the ladybugs sealing the deal!!

In other news, I reached my goal of finishing D-Day by actual D-Day, June 6th!!! It was an amazingly detailed book that I learned so much from. I had no idea all that was involved: the events leading up to it, the training involved, reading the stories from the veterans who were actually there to experience it. 💜

And now? I’m going to re-read Band of Brothers. Because it made me want to read that one again, on a related note!

See ya next time!!

A Whole New World

Hey there!!

I’ve been looking forward to seeing Aladdin, and today I went to see it; I absolutely loved it!

Aladdin is one of my favorite Disney films, so it felt beautifully nostalgic to see it come to life from cartoon to live action. 💕 I was so happy with how it turned out and I think they did a really great job!

I wore this cute Princess Jasmine shirt from Target, my vintage skirt, along with my new ring I made for myself! I think this is my favorite ring I’ve made. 😉

I couldn’t get enough of the costumes worn in the film; so many jewel tones and much sparkle to admire! It’s easy to see why these shoes I wore are my favorite pair of shoes I own. They’re literally encrusted with rhinestones and crystal beads. 💜

It’s also looking like a whole new world in my Etsy shop! I’ve made some new goodies that I’m really happy with; the necklaces are cameo style, which is a new design I decided to try out and now I’m in love:

It’s been a creative past week, making new things. 💜 I wanted these new creations to be colorful and bold, and dang it, I think I succeeded! Because they are BRIGHT.

I hope you’ve enjoyed your week, and I’ll see you in the next post!

Pink, Blue, and Sabaton Too

Heeeey!! 😀

Pink and blue: two colors that seem so opposite, but I have found that they compliment each other so well! I chose a brighter look with this outfit. 💙

“Trust me.” * suspicious grin *
Rings made by me!

When you can’t decide which color of butterfly hairclip you want to wear. Wear one of each. PROBLEM SOLVED!

The creativity has been flowing for me like water unleashed from a dam, and thus, these notebooks were brought to life! I went through the ever-dependable Zazzle to get these printed, and they arrived in the mail this week!

I love the fact that I can print my art onto so many different things! These notebooks are available in my Etsy shop. I can’t wait to create more in the future! 💜

Listen all y’all it’s a Sabaton *Beastie Boy voice*

You all know my love for music! The other day, I meandered into a local music store that is known for carrying literally all types of music, and I was overjoyed to find my favorite album by Sabaton, a Swedish power metal band I discovered earlier this year. 😀

I love their style because they sing about historical battles, themes of war and heroism. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever heard and it makes everything seem epic, no matter what you’re doing. Driving to Starbucks for that cup of joe? EPIC. Knitting a sweater? EPIC.

It’s been an awesome week!! I managed to capture the most stunning sunset when I was sitting at Teazer’s the other night, enjoying a Tiger Spice Chai! This was my view and I felt very lucky:

I love sunsets, especially ones with silhouettes of palm trees. 💜 It was especially a nice view while I was reading my current book, D-Day, which my goal is to finish by the actual day of D-Day (June 6). I have no doubt I’ll be able to reach that goal of finishing the book by then!

See ya next time!!
