Art Hop Night!

IMG_7223

Once a month, my artist friend and I go to Art Hop. It’s downtown, and really a lot of fun! You get to see a lot of people and chat with artists who display their beautiful work. There’s so much variety that it’s impossible to not be in awe!

I went with a bright colored outfit, of course. The daisy headband always adds a splash of fun. ❤

This was unexpected. That is rain, as you can see. Although I knew there was a chance of rain this week, the probability is always low here, especially in the summer! But, what do you know – it happened.  ❤

Really loved this exhibit, because it had that very 60’s pop culture/space age vibe going on! So cool. There were so many amazing art exhibits, both inside the galleries and on the street. It always inspires me to keep creating my own art, as well. ❤

We stopped by this coffee shop downtown called The Brew. It’s small and very cute, with a personable atmosphere. I had an iced raspberry mocha. Sooooo good, and the raspberry wasn’t overpowering at all – a nice hint that really complimented the mocha.

Overall, it was a very fun night and I look forward to next month’s show!

While we’re on the subject of art, I wanted to share some of my own, as I’m in the process of getting my art portfolio together…

Folks, I’m not used to doing abstract art as pictured above, because I love going into details. However! It’s a lot more fun than I thought. Getting messy with colors and creating a paired art piece was a fun concept. 🙂

Have a happy Friday! ❤

Art Overload!

Exciting news!!!

My dream came true, and I was given the opportunity to display my jewelry in a store! It’s being displayed at a patio furniture store called The Patio Place here in my city. I feel super fortunate to have been given the chance to do this!

It was a fun new experience for me, because I had to come up with my own consignment agreement (which I had no clue what that was), and after lots of research, I came up with my own, and myself and the owner signed off on it.

And here it is in the store! Words can’t express how exciting this is to me…I’ve always wanted my jewelry displayed somewhere! ❤ It really goes to show that if you believe in yourself and work hard, it pays off sometimes unexpectedly!

As you can see, I had to mark the occasion with one big, cheesy smile and a thumbs up! Hahaha! 😀

Moving along to other artsy things, I came across sheets of wood in my garage. I found a square one, which I plan to paint either a beach or mountain scene on it, but this sliver of a wood piece I drew a silhouette of the Taj Mahal on. Not bad for my first try at painting on wood, I think! I just need better brushes.

Another piece of art I did recently was this. I feel most comfortable using Prisma color pencils, and they’re my favorite medium. I love blending and layering color upon color. This is “Sunset Over Madera County.” It appears as a pretty scenic view of a sunset, but for me it’s a personal piece with a lot of symbolism, meant as my own expression of inner closure towards someone very dear to me. Heartbreak, basically. 😛 That’s the beauty of art, isn’t it? It can appear so simple to an onlooker, yet have a deeper meaning to the artist. ❤ I tend to struggle to express my emotions at times, but art allows me to.

I love this quote and wanted to share it!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic week! ❤ I always feel great when I create a lot of artwork. I can’t imagine my life without it. Whatever your passion in life is – go for it! It makes a huge difference in our well being, I can promise you that. Have a great Wednesday!

The Bolder, the Better!

Happy Thursday, people! ❤

I’m in a super good mood today, and my outfit seems to convey my upbeat attitude. I’m wearing some bright colors that completely offset the otherwise cloudy, dismal skies in the Central Valley of California today. I like this kind of weather though, so it’s perfect!

Cameo ring, made by yours truly. I loved how it turned out so much that I kept it for myself, rather than putting it on Etsy. LOL! Maybe I’ll make a similar one to sell.

I’d like to take a moment to talk about this lovely belt, which is actually just a plain black belt, but I attached the cutest pin in the world to it! It’s made out of felt and clips very easily and securely to it. I’ve already gotten at least two compliments on it when I was out and about! This is also a pin you could easily wear in your hair, too. I bought it from Tracy, who owns The Tote Trove on Etsy, and all of her stuff is super adorable and colorful! Check out her blog, as well! I also bought a necklace from her, which I’ll wear in another outfit post. 🙂

Feeling goooood! I’ve been in a good mood this week anyway, but today is just one of those days when I feel like I’m shooting out joy beams anywhere I go. It’s funny how when you radiate happiness, other people tend to feel it too and it spreads the joy. So get out there and smile and be happy! ❤

Art Show & Outfit of the Day!

Last night was amaaaaaaaaaazing…

Like seriously. Amazing.

I went to a local art show downtown, where people showcased their work. It’s called Art Hop, it’s once a month, and essentially you walk around downtown from one studio to another and admire people’s work. I saw so many amazing artwork, and it made me feel fortunate to know there are so many talented people in the city I live in!

From the photo above: random shots  in different studios, one in which was called Pop Art where you could literally pop all of the balloons and bubble wrap your heart desired! There were balloons on the walls, on the floor…and get this: they served pop tarts. My mind was blown from how creatively thought out it was!

Secondly, I bought a vintage handbag on Etsy. It’s super adorable and it’s from the 1960’s – and was only $25! This thing looks brand new and it’s hard to believe it made it through so many decades unscathed!

And now, for today’s outfit…

It went from beautiful and warm to cold and rainy in a matter of a day. Not so surprising considering April is upon us.

Umbrellas make for aesthetically pleasing backdrops though, don’t they?

With my new handbag, I literally feel like I could time travel back to the mid-century without a transition being needed…

That bedazzled unicorn was once a necklace, but I seldom wear necklaces, so I turned it into a ring. 🙂

Happy Friday! ❤

Artistic Endeavors

I decided to stop by my local art store and pick up a tablet of paper specifically designed for Prismacolor pencils. I was an art student some years ago and during college I always found Prismacolor to be my favorite medium. I tended to produce the best works when I used it, and I realized I haven’t drawn anything with them in a long time.

I’m better at drawing still life, so I chose some macarons to draw and I really like how they turned out. I then pushed it a bit further and included…

…a cupcake. I guess I was in a pastry mood? I love working with colors, so the brighter, the better! Ultimately, I’m glad I’ve gone back to my drawing hobby and I plan on doing more artwork here in the near future, just so I don’t get rusty. 🙂 There really is something about drawing that relaxes the mind, and it’s such a solitary activity, which is another reason why I love it.
