A Little Danish Village

IMG_3065

Helloooooo!!!

Today’s blog post is all about my trip to Solvang, CA! I’ve wanted to go here for a long time, and I finally did. ♥

Everything about this place is beautiful! It was very windy though, unfortunately. Other than that, it was a perfect day. As you can tell from the title, this place is dedicated to letting you experience a taste of Denmark!

IMG_3050

First stop was at a restaurant called The Little Mermaid, where I tried the one thing that everyone kept telling me to try, which is æbleskiver (traditional Danish pancakes):

IMG_3052

I am so glad I did! These were DELICIOUS. They were very puffy and drizzled with strawberry jam. Yum!

Oh my gossshhhhhh. This place was so awesome; it is a year-round Christmas shop. There were so many cute ornaments! I was like a little kid in a candy store.

CLOCKS!!! I was obsessed with this. I’m a sucker for anything miniature and figurines. I think I literally stood in front of this display for like two minutes just staring…

IMG_3067

Tiny little Danish people on the top tier! eeeee!

IMG_3056

I went to Mortensen’s Danish Bakery. This place had the cutest pastries!

IMG_3068

I have no idea what they were exactly, besides MAGICAL. I heard the words “chocolate” and “raspberry” and was immediately sold. That, and they’re adorable!

IMG_3069

Overall!!! How could I not instantly love this little gem of a town? I’m so happy I finally got to experience it. ♥♥♥

It’s a good thing I dressed for the elements today and wore my romper with a cardigan. They’re shorts, which proved to be very practical considering the wind was blowing so hard. It’s a windy day even here in my hometown, with 20-30 mph winds!

Hope you enjoyed reading! See you next time!

Sweet as Pastel Mints

IMG_0469

My outfit color palette today totally reminds me of those little pastel mint candies!!! Pink and green? Yes, please!

My friend and I decided to take a short day trip to Casa de Fruta, which is a cute tourist spot filled with yummy fruits, candies, ice cream, coffee, etc. It’s a picturesque little place, to boot!

These little fruit bars are amaaaaazing. They’re mashed up fruits with coconut and sugar mixed in it! ❤

IMG_0481

Funny how I said in my last blog post about being excited for the blossom trees to bloom. Spring has definitely sprung in these mountains! There were so many blossoms everywhere…it was like walking through a dream…

It was a lovely day! Nothing recharges me more than wandering around outside on a warm, sunny day. I haven’t been out of town in awhile, so it was a nice little break from the everyday norm.

Enjoy the weekend! See you next time. ❤

Monterey, CA

Hello everyone! I went to the coast yesterday and wanted to share some photos I took along the way! I have a lot of photos to share, so sit back and enjoy. 🙂

Casa de Fruta

casa-de-fruta-sign

Casa de Fruta is a cute place nestled in Hollister, CA that largely sells fresh fruit and vegetables, and also lots of delicious candy to choose from (primarily chocolates). 🙂

dried-fruit

I bought these things to eat, which look really weird but they were soooooo good!! These were mashed up peach, mango, and lemon (the long one) coated with coconut.

Monterey

Next stop was fisherman’s wharf in Monterey! I really love it here because the buildings are bright-colored and cute, with lots of restaurants to choose from.

clam-chowder

Anytime I go to the coast, clam chowder is what I always gravitate to. 😉 This, and a side order of bread smeared with cheese and roasted garlic. Super delicious!

Secret Garden

IMG_8518

I always tend to veer off the main path of the tourist sections and wander into the little hidden areas. Next to the busy walking/biking path that runs along the ocean were some small office buildings, and to my surprise, hidden gardens. ❤

Monterey is such a beautiful little city with lots of Spanish villa style buildings (my favorite style of building, next to Tudor), and beautiful, lush plant life. One moment you’re on the city street, and one turn can take you into a beautiful garden.

I hope you enjoyed the photos. 🙂 Have a great start of the week!

Du kan få stå under mitt paraply…❤ That’s the only remotely romantic thing I know how to say in Swedish (you can stand underneath my umbrella). Besides jag älksar dig (I love you). Jag älksar dig, Lassen’s Peanut Butter Power Smoothie!

Hello there, beautiful people! It rained this weekend where I live, and I was super happy about it and even went for a nice walk. Rain walks are definitely my new favorite!! Nothing compares to the smell of rain, especially at the park with all the vegetation.

Outfit of the Day…

I really love my new sweater tights I bought at Target! They’re a nice nude color that’ll go with anything, so I’m sure they’ll be a staple for me this fall/winter.

Do you have a go-to playlist for when it’s rainy outside? I’m sure it’s a thing. For me, I tend to always gravitate towards the Smashing Pumpkins album, Machina/The Machines of God, which came out back in 2000.

It’s one of those albums that just fits perfectly with walking in the rain, in my opinion. That’s also where I got the title for this post (I’m not Billy-Corgan-cool enough to come up with a title like that on my own), as it’s a song off the album and probably one of my favorite Smashing Pumpkins songs in general. ❤

Enjoy the start of your week! ‘Til next time!

November Mood

autumn-leaves

Hello everyone! I hope the start of the new month is going well for you all!

November has always been one of my favorite months for two reasons:

1) It finally begins to look and feel like fall where I live and the trees start turning colors…

2) It’s my birthday month. 🙂

I like November because it also starts to have more rainy and cloudy days. Fog rolls in too, which isn’t good to drive in of course, but it looks cool from a distance.

I went for a walk with a friend of mine on Sunday, and I took some pictures of the trees changing colors. Outfit photos too, of course!!!

Indeed, I spotted a bunny just hanging out. This one actually let me take a picture, unlike most others that take off running the second I reach inside my purse to take my phone out!

‘TWAS A NICE EVENING. As you can see, there were leaves everywhere so it made for great photos. 🙂 That top I’m wearing is actually a sweatshirt and was quite warm.

Is everyone ready for winter ahead? I like the idea of winter, but I’m horrible at dressing for cold weather. I really dislike feeling too bundled up, although I love how the styles look. I think I’ll wear a coat like once out of the entire year when I walk to look at Christmas lights! Other than that, I’ll wear tights with my outfits and maybe a scarf and gloves, but never a coat. No wonder I’m always saying ‘I’m freezing!’ during these upcoming winter months. 😉

See you next time! ❤

Manhattan Beach

manhattan-beach2

Hello everyone! So happy to write a post about my day trip to Manhattan Beach, CA. ❤

My friend and I left early this morning, and like I always do when I go to Southern California, I had to stop by my favorite little coffee shop gem: It’s a Grind, located in Castaic, CA.

I seriously love this place, because how could you not?! Look at those comfy chairs! And of course, the artsy vibe going on (that’s a painting of the lovely Josephine Baker in the background behind my shoulder). Their coffee is delicious to boot; that’s a Mocha Rush, with chocolate chips mixed in. Yum!

Southern California never ceases to take my breath away. I have always romanticized the area in general, and I blame watching Clueless and She’s All That a trillion times growing up and seeing so many iconic shots of the L.A. area.

IMG_7806

For a late lunch, we went to an Indian restaurant in Hawthorne. It was soooo good! Indian cuisine is one of my top favorites, so naturally I loved the food. I was amazed by the beautiful artwork they had in the restaurant…

So gorgeous. ❤ It was such a great day! It’s always refreshing to get out of town and see the sights elsewhere.

I hope you all are having a fantastic weekend! 🙂

Here Comes the Sun

IMG_7145

Happy Monday, world! ❤

On Saturday night, I perused through my local Claire’s and found a sale going on for hair accessories, so needless to say, I couldn’t pass through without buying something. I’ve always wanted a black-and-red-checkered hair bow, because it has such a rockabilly vibe to it. Finally found one, and I’m in love with it! I have a feeling it’s going to become one of my go-to hair bows now. 😛

IMG_7160

I got my nails re-done. FINALLY. I have a bad habit of thinking, I’ll get them re-done tomorrow…okay the next day…wait, I’ll go next week! They were super grown out and it didn’t look so good, lol! I love these; they’re a nice neutral color, which I typically prefer for my nail shape and length.

old-fashion

IMG_7158

I usually take my blog photos in the morning, but I ended up taking photos in the evening, right before I went for a walk. The late evening sun made for some interesting lighting concepts! I like it.

The green skirt I’ve had for awhile and bought at Forever 21, and the blouse is a hand-me-down from my mom.

shaved-ice

So I stopped by this new place called Rita’s. They serve all kinds of things: Italian shaved ice, frozen custard, etc! It was reeeeally good, and I bought the Juicy Pear flavored Italian shaved ice. It reminded me of Honeydew, which is a favorite flavor of mine.

sunset1

And then, for a nice walk. It might look like I live out in the middle of nowhere, and in a way, I kind of do; there’s about half-a-million people here, but it’s right in the middle of California. So it’s like a big city in the middle of nowhere, with the coast about 2 or 3 hours away. 🙂 I like walking at this park because it gets me away from the cityscape for a short while.

rolling-clouds

I love the pink and purple shades of the clouds over the Sierra Nevada mountains last night. There’s a chance of rain this week and I really hope it rains, because I miss it! It’s almost always sunny here.
