Sunny and Retro

IMG_2340

Hello hellooooooo!!! ❤

So many fun things to share in this post! Where do I start?

First off! My wallet design arrived in the mail! I’m sooooo happy with how it turned out…oh my gosh, people!

IMG_2352

Isn’t it cute?! So, the art is by me, and I glued the little flower charms on it to add more cuteness. I’m in love!

I might, in the future, make some other wallets for my shop. For now I’m just enjoying my new wallet. 🙂

Today’s outfit is a color combination I really love: pink and yellow.

I am so used to wearing flower headbands, that I wanted something new to wear in my hair. Hence, two clips across from each other, which has a nice retro touch!

IMG_2327

I had a lot of leftover felt from my previous headband I made, so I decided to make a cute pin that looks like a faux belt buckle. Interesting, yes? I glued little charms onto it. Something fun to add to my pink skirt!

Really love this entire outfit today! It’s bright and happy, which matches the weather and my mood today. 🙂

I’m going to continue trying out the whole one-hair-clip-on-each-side thing. It’s very retro and playful, which is what I’m all about! ❤

Enjoy your weekend! See ya!

To Everything, There is a Season

IMG_0215

Hello again! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend; I had a Valentine’s Day activity on Friday night that I’d like to share with you all because it was really cool! Maybe you’ll get inspired by it. 😉

I was asked by a group of girls at church if I could host a Valentine’s Day card-making activity. Since I’m all about the arts and crafts, I was quick to agree to it. It turned out great!

IMG_0212

The set up came out really cute, and it reminded me of elementary school when we’d use construction paper to make things. Memories… ❤

These were my two sample cards I made so the girls could get inspiration while making their own cards. The first one was more old-fashioned and the second has more of a quirky/fun look.

There really is something about making a card from scratch!

Outfit of the Day

IMG_0454

This is one of those skirts that I have worn a trillion times, and will continue to wear it until it’s no longer wearable. Even then, I’ll probably do everything I can to fix it and make it last! I bought it at Forever 21 YEARS ago. It’s held up very well.

Do you have a clothing item that has always stuck with ya? No matter how long you’ve had it, you love it so much that you’ll do anything to keep it in good condition and you can’t part with it?

IMG_0329

I’m LOVING this new mesh top from Forever 21!!! It has little rhinestones all over it. In the sun, it really sparkles.

IMG_0302

The rhinestones are AB rhinestones, so when the light hits them, they’re multi-colored. So beautiful! I just bought this top on Saturday, so it should still be in stores if you’re interested.

IMG_0340

As you can see in the photo below, the skirt was worn again soon after in a different outfit. 😛

Saturday was such a beautiful day and unseasonably warm! It was the first day that felt like it was spring, and it had me feeling all sorts of dreamy-eyed and wanting to be outdoors. I did just that and went for a walk in the late afternoon, and it had me in such a great mood.

Do seasons do that to you? I feel similar when fall starts. Spring though is such a unique time of year. The air smells sweet and it’s wonderful to go for a walk without getting a chill.  Now I await for the blossom trees to be in full bloom. Some people dislike the smell, but I love them (and love looking at them).

And then, I always end up listening to 60’s music when I go for a springtime walk. To me, 60’s music really fits for spring and also summer. It’s that carefree vibe.

I know there’s still winter left to be had, but I really can’t wait until spring arrives. It makes my heart full. ❤

‘Til Next Time!

Be Sure to Wear Some Leaves in Your Hair

IMG_8087

Happy weekend, everyone!

Today, I’m very very happy to show you my new autumn leaf headband. All it took was a blank headband, a package of leaves from Joann fabric, and glue! I also used some orange and yellow flower cabochons I had left over from making some rings.

All I had to do was lay down the headband and apply glue to the back of the leaves, and press them onto the headband fabric. Very simple to do, and I used gorilla super glue (hey, that rhymed).

I’m always wearing flower headbands, but since it’s fall and all, I really wanted an autumn-themed statement piece. Just wait until Christmas – I now know I’ll be making a holly-themed headband to keep up with the holiday flow. 😉

red-dress

IMG_8097

A simple red dress kept the rest of the outfit minimal. I wanted the focus to be on the headband, of course! We’re having some lingering warm days – a pleasant upper 80’s today – so short sleeves work just fine.

This statement headband has gotten a lot of compliments, a few confused stares here and there, and overall, I just love it and it’s become my favorite one I’ve made – plus it was totally inexpensive to make!!! I feel like a little autumn fairy out and about. 🙂

I had an unexpected surprise to find out that the place I work observes Columbus Day, so I have a 3 day weekend! An extra day to relax and enjoy some free time…yaaay!

See you all next time! 🙂

Pretty Little Cupcakes

This is another DIY headband post with an outfit of the day…I know, I know…I’ve been making a LOT of headbands lately!

cupcake-headband

I’ve wanted a cupcake headband for a long time, just because I thought it’d be cute and I’m all about the cute things. ❤ I made this using buttons I bought at Joann’s for only $2.99! There are more cupcake buttons that came in the packet, and I turned them into a ring.

Very fun accessories that are ultra sweet and add some quirkiness!

Pink and purple just feels right to go along with the cupcake headband, don’t you think?

Well folks, I hope you’re doing great this mid-week! Apart from working, I’ve just been making stuff, brainstorming new creative ideas and enjoying life. 🙂

Until next time!

Have a Beautiful Day! ❤

DIY Statement Headbands

And a new week begins! I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend and you’re well-rested. ❤

I notice that many headbands have the metal base, and that will give me a headache within five minutes of putting it on. So, I have to pass on many cute headbands because I don’t want to wear something that’s going to hurt my head.

That’s why I’ve been on a roll making my own headbands that are pain-free! I make them on fabric headbands, which don’t hurt. These aren’t in my Etsy shop or anything; I just make them for myself to wear.

seashell-headband

Some days I just want to be a mermaid, honestly. Taking some seashell buttons I bought at Joann’s, and some little flower buttons, I glued them onto the headband.

IMG_7260

Et voilà! I can feel like an inland California mermaid whenever I feel like it. (I think Tracy’s blog post on The Tote Trove with mermaid-inspired fashion is what got me thinking about mermaids).

IMG_6236

Since the sunlight makes seeing the details on the ring difficult, here’s a picture of the seashell ring I made a few months ago! Probably my favorite statement ring I’ve ever made.

IMG_7266

This is off-topic, but this shirt!!! I have to explain what I did. Originally, it was a T-shirt shape. Saturday night I couldn’t sleep, so I was looking through my clothes and decided to try altering the shirt. I took scissors to it and thought, Let’s see how this goes, which is typically how I think when it comes to altering clothing, hahaaa! It was a success and I re-made it into a flirty, off-the-shoulder top. ❤

IMG_7256

For this headband, I used some unusual pieces! The small flowers were actually old rings that were wearing down (I removed the ring backs), and the large, colorful flowers are earrings my mom wore in the 80’s. I don’t wear earrings, so I included them on the headband to really make it pop.

IMG_7268

I really love how this headband turned out! I’m getting into bolder headbands, and this one is one of my favorites so far. Headbands can really perk up an outfit, very easily. 🙂

gorilla-glue

This is what I used for the glue! It holds really well. Just make sure to let it dry overnight, and it doesn’t budge. I use this for making jewelry, as well. Good stuff!

I hope you enjoyed reading! I love to make my own stuff if I’m able to because it truly feels original and one-of-a-kind. Good luck and have fun making your own DIY projects! The sky’s the limit. 😉

Enjoy your Monday! ❤

DIY Daisy Headband & Outfit

IMG_5785

I paid a visit to Joann’s yesterday afternoon and got some super cute buttons that I had every intention to turn into flower headbands! I’d been wanting to do this for awhile, but hadn’t taken the time to go and buy the supplies. I was in a crafting mood like crazy yesterday.

I made two, but in this post I will just show how the daisy one turned about because I wore it with my outfit today.

IMG_5788

IMG_5789

The back of the buttons had little knobs on them, but that actually worked to my advantage and I didn’t need or have the desire to remove them. Let’s face it – my hairstyle is huge and those little daisies need to be sitting in an upright position to be seen against the backdrop of my bouffant!

IMG_5790

Et voilà! The finished product. It turned out better than I thought it would, actually. I wondered if the knobs on the back of the buttons would even glue to the headband fabric.

I really like how the headband looks with this outfit! It has a very girly, free-spirited vibe to it.

I’ll be sure to post how the other headband turned out in a future post! This look today has a very Lana Del Rey/Marina and the Diamonds vibe, in my opinion…which is great because I adore both ladies. 🙂 I didn’t plan it that way, it’s just what the result makes me think of…the flower headband reminds me of Lana, and the outfit reminds me of Marina. ❤

Have a happy Tuesday!
