Needless to say based on my Photoshop work featured above, I was BEYOND excited to see the new Scream film!!!! I’d actually been counting down the days! (Not joking…I literally have been, for months.)
I saw the first Scream film at age 9 and it’s a franchise I grew up with. Being 34 now, it’s surreal to think of how much time has passed since the first film came out in 1996!
Before I get into my thoughts about the new film, here’s the outfit I wore to go see it! I was in full Ghostface fan girl gear:
Now for the movie!!!!!!!! I will not discuss too much because this film is so new and I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who plans to see it. But let me just say:
The movie EXCEEDED my expectations, and played with my emotions more than I imagined it ever would. It really kept me on my toes through the end, and there were many times I jumped in my seat, or my mouth was just hanging open from shock. I FELT SO MUCH DURING THIS FREAKING FILM!!! Loved it!
Lastly, can I just say, I was OVER THE MOON WITH JOY from the fact that Ghostface utters the words, “Hello, Samantha” in this movie. Can I just fan girl over that for a moment?!?!?!?!!?!? Or maybe for the rest of my lifetime? Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! *ear-splitting squeal ensues*
That’s about it, folks! See ya next time!! I’m going to go bask in the glow of how happy I am having seen this movie. 💖
Blue is a color I typically don’t wear very often. However, when my mom gave me this fabulous sweater she used to wear in the ’80s, I was ecstatic!!! That royal blue! 😍💙
Thus, I decided to embrace blue a bit more – winter blues. But in the sense of color, not emotions. For one thing, my emotional range typically varies between happy/really happy/hyper and happy/totally calm. Besides, I could never feel blue in these outfits!
I’ve wanted denim blue overall shorts for so long, and my first try was a pair I got off SHEIN that were too small, so I couldn’t wear them. I tried again with a totally different pair, and these bad boys were a little too big, so I safety pinned the loose part in front and I don’t even care if it looks weird because I looooove them!!! Finally I own a pair! ❤️
January is one of those months that, after the holiday season, seems very peacefully quiet – like a fresh new page that’s been turned (not like my holiday season was busy or anything; that too, was peaceful and quiet!).
Still, January feels different, and in a very easygoing way that I can appreciate. I actually don’t make resolutions or goals, besides to just enjoy life day-by-day, which means to continue doing what makes me happy (being productive in my work-from-home career, read good books, wear fun outfits, have fun blogging, and enjoy good coffee). And I can’t ask for anything more than thaaaat!!! 💖
Here’s to a happy (and peaceful) start of the new year to you! ✨
This outfit is SO RANDOM. But that’s like…why I really like it! Let’s take a look:
The words “kawaii goth” are all that comes to mind when I overview this outfit. You know what I mean??? A mix of kawaii hair accessories with an unexpected goth twist with the harness belt – and over khaki overalls, no less!!! The overalls make it somehow awkward, but I totally love awkwardness in general, especially in fashion.
But fashion doesn’t have to make sense, ya know. In fact, my favorite kind of fashion is the kind where you mix different styles into one glorious chaos. And I feel like this look really nailed that!
Here’s the purple version of the outfit, with black overalls instead, a purple turtleneck and same harness belt (and my umbrella because it was raining):
I was so happy to find out that one of the Dutch Brothers in my area had their lobby open to sit down at! I came here last Saturday night for a beverage. Their little tree in the front was so beautiful! Dutch Brothers is a coffee chain unlike any other; they usually have music bumping from speakers (more often than not, it’s 90’s music!) and lots of bright blue neon décor.
As the Christmas season draws closer to an end, I soak up the ambiance of lights and decorations the best I can. As long as I enjoyed Christmas lights and seasonal coffee drinks, then I feel confident that I soaked in the holiday season successfully! 🎄❤️
I was always wearing pink and purple as a kid; the colors together were just perfect to me, and complimented one another so effortlessly well. Whether it be bright pink and purple, or pastel pink and purple, I’d wear them together. And as you can see in these two outfits, not much has changed – I still love the two colors united!!!
Another thing: I really love corduroy! As you can tell from my overalls. It always makes me think of a really funny line from American Sniper, when Chris Kyle meets his future wife, Taya, at a bar (one of my favorite scenes in the movie). She is angry that a married man came up to flirt with her before Chris starts chatting with her.
Chris: “It might’ve been the leather pants.” Taya: “What kind of pants does a girl have to wear to be left alone?” Chris: “Maybe corduroy.”
I think of that line, hearing it in Bradley Cooper’s voice (the actor who played Chris Kyle in the film) every time I wear corduroy!!! 😂😂😂
Can I just say how in love I am with my new Dolls Kill shoes AND these gloves my sister gave me??? The little deer on them!!! 😍💞 And the shoes are so comfortable and lightweight! I love the blocky look of them. I was all too eager to tear open the box when it arrived at my doorstep, and five seconds after I opened the box, I’d already put them on my feet and started strutting through the house merrily.
Fashion + shoes + coffee + books about the Eastern Bloc = YES PLEASE!!!! 😍
I found my favorite Christmas sweatshirt from elementary school!!! Finding it in the back of a closet, I knew I had to wear it again. This was back in the ’90s when iron-on transfers were all the rage, and I’ve always loved the style! My sister made me this one, back in the day.
Ain’t it a hoot? North Pole Hot Tub Club, it reads. Cuuuuuuuuuuuute!!!
The photo of me wearing it was taken in sixth grade, so it would’ve been in 1998. I actually still remember that day; it was probably the last day of school before the much-anticipated Christmas vacation, and it was taken outside the Campus Club room (for kids who needed somewhere to hang out after school, waiting for their parent(s) to pick them up).
Anyhow, I was beyond happy to have found it again and even more excited to put it on after 23 years! Eleven-year-old me / thirty-four-year-old me!
I couldn’t take a full-body photo of the whole outfit because it was RAINING HARD and I didn’t want my phone or the tripod to get soaked. ☔️ However, you get the picture of the whole ensemb’! I feel like I am in elementary school again, although this time, with my style, it creates an eclectic Christmas look that I definitely love. 💕
In the Christmas spirit, I made some sugar cookies recently. A mix of traditional red-and-green colors and also winter wonderland colors!!! GOOOOOD STUFF!
This week, my brother sent me these photos via text message of the sky, I think it was Monday morning. Can you believe the purple color?!? It was apparently around 6 AM, and I get up between 6-6:30 AM, but unfortunately I didn’t see it for myself. I’m glad he sent me these, or else I wouldn’t have believed it! I have no idea what would have caused such a color. This time of year, we have a lot of fog that hangs around, so who knows what those fog clouds were up to.
It inspired me to wear my purple gloves this week. 💜
Who would’ve thought these blue tights would be one of my favorites? It’s not a color I own in my wardrobe until now! These royal blue tights I knew would go well with my cherub top. It was instantly what I went to when trying to decide what to wear with the tights!
The second outfit was more of a pale blue!
In other news, I recently started reading this book that I’ve been wanting to read for a while now: Fighter Wing by Tom Clancy! As you can naturally see, it is about jets. But more specifically, the chapter I’m on is all about Desert Storm – yesssss! It was the first war of my lifetime (the Gulf War) and there is surprisingly not a whole lot of books out there about it. So I’m thankful for some perspective on the matter, included in this book which came out in 1995. ❤️
Lastly, for a little automotive fun! Believe it or not, the majority of social media management I do for work is for auto shops (two automotive, the others auto body repair shops). I’ve actually learned a lot over the past 3 years of having this work-from-home career, especially in regards to auto care stuff. So now I try to practice what I preach in terms of content creation for the auto shops I manage; therefore, I try to follow some tips on my own car!
I’m definitely no auto expert by any means, but I do like to pop the hood every now and then and check out how my belts and hoses are looking!! I learned that you can check them yourself, looking for signs of fraying or cracks on the belts and feeling the hoses (they should feel firm but still pliable – feeling “mushy” is a sign it should probably be changed out).
Of course, do all this when the car has been off for a long while so everything is COOL!
Anyway, there you have it, Sam’s auto shop feature of the day, LOL!!! 😂 Also, as proof that I got my hands (kind of) dirty, you can see grease on my thumb in the photo. 👍🏼
But now I type this with clean hands, from the comfort of a Starbucks table – hot mocha in hand. ☕️💕 See you next time!!!
In my last post, I left off with yellow tights. 💛 Exploring the world of bright tights has really been an adventure, and for many reasons! First off, I didn’t know the fun I was missing out on. Brights really do add something to an outfit; typically, I reserved brights for my hair accessories, but I’ve decided to step out of my comfort zone for once. And I like it! 💖
Here are two outfits styled with the new pink tights!!!
I am sitting inside Starbucks next to a big window as I type this. I have a gorgeous autumnal view of fall foliage, a hot cup of peppermint mocha in my hand, and I quite simply couldn’t ask for more. I love how the reds and oranges explode as a fiery painting on the trees. Could life be any better?!?!?!?!
I didn’t think it could get any better…until I found out Kid Rock released a new (controversial) song, Don’t Tell Me How to Live, about his anger at the current world and his anger at millennials. I just KNEW I had to listen, and it was so over-the-top and hardcore, plus at the end of the music video he took off into space on a middle-finger-shaped spaceship and landed safely on Mars, and I knew right then and there it was just what I’d needed to start the Christmas season. Although I’m a little confused as a millennial myself because, at least in my age group, weren’t we the ones who were really into his music in middle school back in 1998 when he debuted Devil Without a Cause? We supported you, Kid! Don’t hate all of us!
But hey, I can just laugh that part off. It’s the Christmas season now and everything already seems more magical and gosh dang it, more happy. Can you feel it?!?!?! I sure can. And in my next post, I’ll be showing the next set of bright tights: RED and BLUE. I’m excited! ❤️💙
I’ll end this post with footage of Kid Rock going into space. Happy Christmas season folks!!!
I have officially fallen in love with these yellow tights, especially paired with this pale yellow skirt I was certain I’d gotten rid of awhile back, but I found it in a drawer the other day! I was beyond happy, because it’s like the soulmate to the yellow tights I just received in the mail from Amazon. They just go together so perfectly, and with the shoes…oh my gosh!!! 💛💛
With colored tights, I’ve been on an ’80s kick lately with my outfits. And I just love it! Especially paired with a blazer. Also, I am feeling the flats. I’ve gotten so used to wearing platform Mary Jane’s, that it’s refreshing to wear flats again! Plus, it’s something different. 😋
This is definitely one of my favorite outfits as of lately!! 🌟💛🌟
It was 2016 when I last went to Fort Washington Fitness, and I had discontinued my membership only because I had been let go from the law firm I’d worked at for 11 years, and I wanted to watch my money (that was the first and only job I’d had at that point in my life, and I’d started straight out of high school!) It had been the perfect little gym for me: not busy at all!
As I was sitting at a coffee shop last week, my mind wandered over to the biggest question on my mind: what was I going to do for fitness this fall and winter? For me, it’s already too cold to go for walks now (I have a low tolerance for cold temperatures, unfortunately). I needed walking in my life, though…so what was I goING TO DO?!?!?!?!
That’s when I remembered: why the heck don’t I just re-join Fort Washington Fitness? I have a good career and feel comfortable re-enrolling again, financially. That was the answer I needed! After having coffee, I drove over to the fitness center, giving myself a mental pep talk not to be nervous about re-joining a gym and to go ask about a 7 day guest pass to ease into it again. So I did!
This past week, I tried a few days out and quickly fell in love with it all over again. It turns out, I’ve missed going there! The treadmill and the elliptical are my go-to’s! When I go, I wear simple fitness clothes, as pictured above…but you bet your bottom dollar I still wear my hair just as I always do, decked out with colorful accessories! I gotta stay true to myself even at the gym, right?
In other news, I tried out some color combinations I typically don’t wear together this week, and I love the looks! I’m getting into colored tights; I just ordered a pair of yellow tights (helloooo ’70s) and deep fuschia. I’m excited to get them and create new outfits!
The last outfit makes me feel like a late ’80s career woman. But not a typical career – like an art career or something. Perhaps working at some hip art museum in West Berlin as an American, while spending my evenings checking out the nearest coffee shop or music store (to buy cassette tapes no less!) and going for late-night strolls to try to sneak peeks from a viewing platform along the Berlin Wall, eyeing the elusive communist East Berlin from a distance???? My curiosity is fierce. The East German border guards eye me suspiciously. What kind of capitalist weapon could she be holding in that huge hair?!?! Already, they’re on the phone with the Stasi, and soon even Erich Honecker himself will know about my threatening hairdo and eventually it’ll pass onto the Kremlin. Nena could have re-written the song 99 Red Balloons as, ‘massively huuuuge, bouffant ‘do goes by…” inciting Cold War tensions and all out nuclear war.
Yikes. I’m just going to stop right now because I could go on and on with my imagination. But yes, the last outfit makes me think of the 80’s, and apparently my alternate-universe life in the 80’s as an American living in West Berlin. Perhaps I am listening to too much Billy Idol still?
