Bullet with Butterfly Wings

IMG_3921

Like my Smashing Pumpkins blog post title? Notice I am wearing butterfly hair clips…?? Also, I have an outfit to show you that involves the Pumpkins. So let’s start!

IMG_3930

First off, THIS SHIRT. It’s the most gorgeous shade of purple I’ve ever seen and you can find it for purchase here.

IMG_3933

I ordered this in the mail from eBay. It is Korean-style fashion, apparently! I’m a size US Small, but it recommends to size up one since it’s sized in Asia measurements.

IMG_3923

LOVE IT. It fits perfectly! The intricate details on the front and the lace sleeves are beautifully feminine. I actually have this same shirt in light pink, and a similar one in beige. I wear them both frequently. I’ve been super pleased with all three purchases now!

IMG_3937

My butterfly hair clips are actually glue-on appliques from Joann Fabric! I simply glued alligator clips on the back of each. How easy is that? 🙂 So simple to do and looks super cute!!!

New saddle shoes from BAIT footwear! These are so fun. Ahhhhh…♥

You can find these same shoes here.

IMG_3897

On the creative spectrum, I’ve been staying quite busy!!! I’m happy to show the ensemble I’ve decided on for the upcoming Smashing Pumpkins concert I’m going to on the 27th in Oakland! Can you tell I’m excited?

IMG_3898 (1)

So for my outfit, I definitely went with a Mellon-Collie-era theme! I love the whimsical, dreamy aesthetic the band went with during this period of their music.

IMG_3896

I printed out the star lady from the album cover and made it into a ring. ♥

IMG_3900 (1)

I’ve had this star headband for awhile now…glad to be putting it to good use again! I feel like this really tops off the whole look. I can’t waaaaaaaaaaaait!

Originally, I thought I would wear a Smashing Pumpkins shirt with a skirt. However, my hair hides anything on the front of a shirt, which is why I seldom ever wear a shirt with a picture on it.

Instead, I thought I’d get creative and create my own band-inspired outfit.

I’m going to do the same for the Ghost concert in November. I’m happy to say that I’ve already started on the jewelry for that, and here’s a sneak peek…

IMG_3913

It’s done – all I need to do is glue a ring-back on it. OH MY GOSH, I HAVE A GHOST RING. ♥ I’ll probably make another one. Crafting is addicting, you guys…

IMG_3911

…because a fresh new ring was also made Saturday night! Tracy over at The Tote Trove inspired me to make a Disney princess statement ring, awhile after I read her blog post about having made a gorgeous Disney princess necklace.

Joann Fabric is where I found the Beauty and the Beast packet of buttons. I plan on getting the packet with Princess Jasmine in it so I can make one of her in the future.

This ring is HUGE. But it definitely catches your eye, and is a good conversation piece!

Enjoy the start of the new week! ♥

Sunny and Retro

IMG_2340

Hello hellooooooo!!! ❤

So many fun things to share in this post! Where do I start?

First off! My wallet design arrived in the mail! I’m sooooo happy with how it turned out…oh my gosh, people!

IMG_2352

Isn’t it cute?! So, the art is by me, and I glued the little flower charms on it to add more cuteness. I’m in love!

I might, in the future, make some other wallets for my shop. For now I’m just enjoying my new wallet. 🙂

IMG_2321

IMG_2322

Today’s outfit is a color combination I really love: pink and yellow.

I am so used to wearing flower headbands, that I wanted something new to wear in my hair. Hence, two clips across from each other, which has a nice retro touch!

IMG_2327

I had a lot of leftover felt from my previous headband I made, so I decided to make a cute pin that looks like a faux belt buckle. Interesting, yes? I glued little charms onto it. Something fun to add to my pink skirt!

IMG_2324

IMG_2330

Really love this entire outfit today! It’s bright and happy, which matches the weather and my mood today. 🙂

I’m going to continue trying out the whole one-hair-clip-on-each-side thing. It’s very retro and playful, which is what I’m all about! ❤

Enjoy your weekend! See ya!

Metal Mermaid

IMG_2213

Hello everyone and welcome! 🙂

My outfit today is a combination of mermaid and doom metal (that’s my beloved Ghost shirt I’m wearing), and the headband is new!

IMG_2194

It’s made out of buttons and felt fabric. I’ve never worked with felt before, and I really love how it turned out! Mermaid vibes!

IMG_2217

To match, I wore my gigantic made-it-myself seashell statement ring. ❤

IMG_2204

Ghost just released a new single this past week called Rats, and I LOVE IT SO MUCH. It’s been on repeat in my car for the past few days. I can’t wait for their new album in June!!!

IMG_2280

My friend and I went to a fancy fruit stand late this afternoon, and I matched the interior. Nice photo opportunity or what?

IMG_2199

Someone on Etsy sent me a message asking if I could make one of my rings into a pin. I decided to make my first pin this weekend, and I like it! It’s in the shop now, and I’m currently sporting it on my laptop bag:

Pretty, no? 😀

Hope you enjoyed your weekend! ❤

To Everything, There is a Season

IMG_0215

Hello again! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend; I had a Valentine’s Day activity on Friday night that I’d like to share with you all because it was really cool! Maybe you’ll get inspired by it. 😉

I was asked by a group of girls at church if I could host a Valentine’s Day card-making activity. Since I’m all about the arts and crafts, I was quick to agree to it. It turned out great!

IMG_0211

IMG_0212

The set up came out really cute, and it reminded me of elementary school when we’d use construction paper to make things. Memories… ❤

IMG_0214

IMG_0213

These were my two sample cards I made so the girls could get inspiration while making their own cards. The first one was more old-fashioned and the second has more of a quirky/fun look.

There really is something about making a card from scratch!

Outfit of the Day

IMG_0454

This is one of those skirts that I have worn a trillion times, and will continue to wear it until it’s no longer wearable. Even then, I’ll probably do everything I can to fix it and make it last! I bought it at Forever 21 YEARS ago. It’s held up very well.

Do you have a clothing item that has always stuck with ya? No matter how long you’ve had it, you love it so much that you’ll do anything to keep it in good condition and you can’t part with it?

IMG_0329

I’m LOVING this new mesh top from Forever 21!!! It has little rhinestones all over it. In the sun, it really sparkles.

IMG_0302

The rhinestones are AB rhinestones, so when the light hits them, they’re multi-colored. So beautiful! I just bought this top on Saturday, so it should still be in stores if you’re interested.

IMG_0340

As you can see in the photo below, the skirt was worn again soon after in a different outfit. 😛

Saturday was such a beautiful day and unseasonably warm! It was the first day that felt like it was spring, and it had me feeling all sorts of dreamy-eyed and wanting to be outdoors. I did just that and went for a walk in the late afternoon, and it had me in such a great mood.

Do seasons do that to you? I feel similar when fall starts. Spring though is such a unique time of year. The air smells sweet and it’s wonderful to go for a walk without getting a chill.  Now I await for the blossom trees to be in full bloom. Some people dislike the smell, but I love them (and love looking at them).

And then, I always end up listening to 60’s music when I go for a springtime walk. To me, 60’s music really fits for spring and also summer. It’s that carefree vibe.

IMG_0279

I know there’s still winter left to be had, but I really can’t wait until spring arrives. It makes my heart full. ❤

‘Til Next Time!

Roses are Aqua, Violets are…Violet

rose-cabochons

Not very poetic, but hey!

I’m super jazzed up because my rose cabochons arrived in the mail yesterday. I was all too excited to make some new headbands to add to my collection!

IMG_8161

IMG_8164

I’m in love with the bright colors. They’re so vivid, and they sparkle when the light hits it. These take hardly any time to do, as all it takes is some glue and time to dry. Very minimal effort with an amazing outcome. 🙂

IMG_8168

Today I wore the violet one. I’ll show the blue one in another outfit post soon, I’m sure! I love pink and gold, so I think it all tied together nicely. My sister made me the ring awhile back and this is the first time I’ve worn it.

Simple outfit with cute colors to make it pop!

Thought of the Day: What inspires you to blog?

I know I’m switching gears here, but I had an interesting conversation last night in which I brought up why I love blogging. I wanted to share my own thoughts on it, and if anyone wants to share theirs, I’d love to hear!

For me, it’s the ability to reach out beyond the limits of where I live and share my little world with others. I live in a moderately big city, but somehow it still feels small. I also sincerely enjoy reading what others blog about and seeing their interests and their part of the world (different cultures and countries fascinate me).

Also, I love fashion expression, and although it speaks for itself visually, I really love going into further detail through writing about it. That, and when I have inspiration to share, I hope to inspire others. ❤

What inspires you? ‘Til next time! 🙂

Be Sure to Wear Some Leaves in Your Hair

IMG_8087

Happy weekend, everyone!

Today, I’m very very happy to show you my new autumn leaf headband. All it took was a blank headband, a package of leaves from Joann fabric, and glue! I also used some orange and yellow flower cabochons I had left over from making some rings.

All I had to do was lay down the headband and apply glue to the back of the leaves, and press them onto the headband fabric. Very simple to do, and I used gorilla super glue (hey, that rhymed).

I’m always wearing flower headbands, but since it’s fall and all, I really wanted an autumn-themed statement piece. Just wait until Christmas – I now know I’ll be making a holly-themed headband to keep up with the holiday flow. 😉

red-dress

IMG_8097

A simple red dress kept the rest of the outfit minimal. I wanted the focus to be on the headband, of course! We’re having some lingering warm days – a pleasant upper 80’s today – so short sleeves work just fine.

This statement headband has gotten a lot of compliments, a few confused stares here and there, and overall, I just love it and it’s become my favorite one I’ve made – plus it was totally inexpensive to make!!! I feel like a little autumn fairy out and about. 🙂

I had an unexpected surprise to find out that the place I work observes Columbus Day, so I have a 3 day weekend! An extra day to relax and enjoy some free time…yaaay!

See you all next time! 🙂

Pretty Little Cupcakes

118957-Pretty-Cupcake

This is another DIY headband post with an outfit of the day…I know, I know…I’ve been making a LOT of headbands lately!

cupcake-headband

I’ve wanted a cupcake headband for a long time, just because I thought it’d be cute and I’m all about the cute things. ❤ I made this using buttons I bought at Joann’s for only $2.99! There are more cupcake buttons that came in the packet, and I turned them into a ring.

Very fun accessories that are ultra sweet and add some quirkiness!

pink-and-purple-outfit

Pink and purple just feels right to go along with the cupcake headband, don’t you think?

Well folks, I hope you’re doing great this mid-week! Apart from working, I’ve just been making stuff, brainstorming new creative ideas and enjoying life. 🙂

Until next time!

Have a Beautiful Day! ❤
