Farmers Market Ensemble: In it to Pin it

IMG_5053

Hi hi! Here’s a fun outfit I wore on Tuesday, which is the evening I went to farmers market.

This cardigan I’m wearing is from my high school days, and since it’s a bit big on me now, I decided to PIN IT. It’s just too cute of a cardigan to ever part with, so I make it work!

And a pin is a win, my friends…

IMG_5052

IMG_5065

The pin is from The Tote Trove, and it’s a cute little lily pad. It worked SO perfectly with my ensemble! I just loved the whole look…

Before walking over to the farmers market Tuesday night, I stopped at Teazer’s to read for a short while and enjoy a Tiger Spice Chai. Yum!

My friend has a crafts booth at the farmers market, so I went to visit her and hang out. It was fun!!! I actually really love going there on Tuesday nights…it’s a fun way to jazz up the beginning of the week. And speaking of jazz…

IMG_5034

I decided to watch another 1930’s film! This is The Roaring Twenties, 1939…another great film from the old-school gangster genre. ♥️

IMG_5020

I loooooooooooooove the suits and hats men wore during this time period. ♥ The movie is as 1920’s gangster as it gets. What I love about these old films is that even the “violent” scenes are so tame and leave more to the imagination than anything, which I prefer, personally.

IMG_5070

Awww…Eddie loves Jean, but it’s not reciprocated. Her expression here says it all: ‘yeeeeah, that’s gonna be a no from me dawg’, her reaction to his marriage proposal seems to say.

She loves someone else. All I could think was, GIRL WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? Oh wait, he’s a bootlegger who initially brushed her off, and she’s very sweet and innocent. Okay, I can see her concern…but give it a few years until Prohibition ends and he won’t be a bootlegger anymore. Problem solved! No? Alright…

IMG_5031

I don’t know, Jean. I wouldn’t be able to resist those eyes of his. But more power to you…OH MY GOSH, I was reading about James Cagney (who was born in 1899!) and he was apparently only 5 foot 5 inches tall. HOW FREAKING CUTE IS THAT? 😍 What a little heartthrob.

IMG_5083

It’s been a really good week! Here’s a gorgeous sunset I managed to capture on this Wednesday evening. 😃

Sooo…who else is ready for Halloween?! 🎃 Only a week away!

See ya next time!

Coolest Cat in Town

IMG_5007

Am I the coolest cat in town? Heck no. But I feel like I am in these shoes!

I was told by an older gentleman the other day that “all the coolest girls in high school wore saddle shoes” (he experienced high school in the 1950’s) so needless to say I was feeling pretty cool wearing these gems!

I’ve wanted saddle shoes for who knows how long now. It’s like the Christmas present you always wanted but never received. I bought these from BAIT footwear;  pretty much where I go to buy all of my shoes. It’s a dream come true!!! ♥️

I ended up wearing a lot of butterfly clips this past week, I noticed. Butterfly mood, I suppose? I made a new pair this past week, which you’ll see in the next outfit a little ways down (also, above picture: big (messy) hair, don’t care)…

IMG_4998

IMG_5008

My skirt! I’m loving the vintage look of it; I bought it at Forever 21 this past week! I was so shocked to see that there’s a massive selection of 1970’s-style clothing, currently. If you love vintage-inspired clothing: GO. NOWWWWW.

IMG_4984

IMG_4985

Fun fact: I spilled part of a Maple Pecan Latte on this second featured outfit. And these photos were taken post-spill!!! So it turns out, it wiped off easily without any stains, somehow. Lucky me. Lucky CLUMSY me, I might add…but realistically, it was a minor spill. More funny than anything!

New monarch butterfly hair clips I made!!! Aren’t they darling? They’re appliques from JOANN Fabric. I simply glued alligator clips to the back, and there you have it!

This past week, I finished up some artwork I’ve been working on. It’s actually a follow-up to a first illustration I did:

IMG_4807

“Luna Sea”

IMG_4975

“Starla (Luna Sea, Part II)”

My friend pointed out that these works had Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness vibes, and to keep the vibe going, I named the second closeup artwork of the mermaid “Starla”, which is also a Smashing Pumpkins song.

All in all, I’m super happy with how these two pieces turned out, and within the next month I’ll be selling 5 x 7 prints on Etsy of nine different illustrations I’ve made! Super excited!!!

IMG_5015

Last night (Friday night), I felt like watching a movie. I wanted something from way back when, and I remembered I have quite a selection of films from the 1920’s-1930’s. I have a soft spot for films from that time.

This is Smart Money, 1931. It’s a gangster film! I should probably point out I also have a liking for the adorable and strikingly handsome James Cagney, whose charm stands the test of time in my opinion. 😍

IMG_5010

IMG_5011

I don’t know what it is, but I just really love old films like this. I love the styles of the time, the way people talked…it’s all so different and feels refreshing for me. Really loved Edward G. Robinson giving off those Al Capone vibes.

And that’s a wrap! I hope you all are enjoying your weekend. 🙂 I sure am!

See ya next time!

Frolicking Amongst the Pumpkins

IMG_4864

Well howdy!!! This Sunday afternoon, I went to the happenin’ Pumpkin Patch where my sister sells her jewelry each year. I hung out for awhile with my mom and sister, enjoyed the crowd and the music, and also took some photos. ‘Twas a great time! 🎃

On a side note: Saturday evening, I had the wonderful privilege to set up my art table at an art party downtown. It was SO MUCH FUN. I sold two of my framed art, which was totally unexpected!!! I also had new items I made: two brooches, two headbands and a jewelry box. ❤

IMG_4858

IMG_4860

My table was in the perfect spot: right up front where the musicians were. The weather was perfect, the set up was perfect…all in all, just a great night. One of the best parts was when I excitedly geeked out when I saw a fellow artist wearing a Ghost shirt. LOL!

Catch ya later! 🎃

IMG_4833

Welcome back to another Halloween-esque post to celebrate the month!  🎃 I want to show you my witchy new blouse that’s just perfect for this time of year!

IMG_4832

This was one of those tops that I took a real chance on. It was very unusual, which caught my attention when I found it on eBay. And with a click of the mouse, I ordered it – the future unknown. Would it look right on me? Fit right? It’s completely sheer and spattered with shimmer and puffy sleeves, so I didn’t know what to expect!

AND IT DIDN’T DISAPPOINT, FOLKS…

SCARING MY NEIGHBORS (AND PEOPLE IN GENERAL): A FEEL-GOOD FRIDAY STORY

IMG_4841

I have a real knack for accidentally scaring people. I’m very light-footed and quiet in real life, so it’s common for me to walk up to someone without being heard and accidentally give them a scare.

Me: “Nice day out…”

Person: *jumps out of their skin*

Adults, small children… (I especially scare Mormon children, it turns out. Most people I know are surprised to find out I’ve gone to a Mormon church for 3 years. I randomly went one day and just…sort of kept going for 3 years and counting. I intertwine a lot of different  spiritual beliefs into my personal faith, so I’m spiritually a mix of things, but it’s nice to have a place to hear a good message, even if I don’t always agree with everything, ya know?

But yeah, the Mormon kids are scared of me. It’s understandable, since I wear a lot of makeup, unusual outfits and I have huge hair, and they’re probably just not used to seeing that. And now my neighbors can be added to the list.

I was out front taking these photos, and I was bent down for a moment, out of sight. Then some people from the neighborhood walked by with their dog, and I stood up quickly. Now, I didn’t do that on purpose; it just sort of happened that way by accident, which is generally how it goes.

“Hi!” I said cheerily.

*traumatized expressions* “Oh my GOD you scared the ***** out of me!” one of them exclaimed.

♥♥♥ Happy October!!! ♥♥♥

Well, the month has arrived! Let the fun holidays of the ending half of the year begin. I wore these on the second day of October, so I didn’t waste a moment to get started on Halloween. Nice touch, no?

And the spider background is a foreshadowing to my Halloween costume…muuahahaha.

IMG_4706

Pumpkin cookie from Panera…yumm. 🎃

We had our first rain this week! It started at a whopping 6 a.m., in which I heard the distinct sound of rain pouring down on the roof. I was ridiculously excited; it doesn’t rain here at all during the summer, so this is truly a reason to celebrate. 😉

IMG_4757

Rain, at the beginning of the week.

IMG_4771

End of the week.

The rain didn’t last long, unfortunately. I managed to see a huge lightning storm that was happening to the north while I was driving on the freeway at night, though. 🌩

Since the cooler weather is on the way, I’ve brought out some jackets. Here’s a red one I wore this week!

I’m really glad I have this little red jacket. It’s quite warm, and I also have a new khaki jacket that’s similar in style that’ll be great to wear when it rains. I could’ve worn it this past week during the rain, but it hadn’t arrived in the mail yet. Next rain storm and it’s onnnnn!

My current read!!! After being knee-deep in a book about the Black Death for the past few weeks, there’s only so much of the bubonic plague a gal can take. Hence, a light-hearted and happy read was a must after I finished the book. I chose wisely!

I love the show, so it’s easy to love the book.

Here’s a favorite passage I came across:

I hope you all are enjoying the start of this beautiful month and getting into the festive spirit! I’ll be going to the pumpkin patch this weekend, so I’m super excited about that. There will be photos and a blog post, naturally.  😜

I Love You a Latte, Nature

Hello hello! Like my socks? 🙂

Fall is for SOCKS. All kinds! For me personally, I really love over-the-knee socks. They add such a fun look to an outfit.

The temperature is dropping quite fast, and by next week, there is rain expected (yessss!). I’m really looking forward to the upcoming fall weather. ♥♥♥

I tried a dusty ol’ vintage look with my camera today. 😀

Bring out the fun cardigans and socks! Love it. I was so torn as to what kind of shoes to wear with this…I ended up choosing right, though.

What I learned today: socks with sandals are a-okay! 😀

IMG_4641

IMG_4642

You know what else is a-okay are Maple Pecan Lattes…

IMG_4626

With the sprinkles…oh my gosssssssssshhhhhhhhh. They are MORE than just a-okay. I will probably get one of these again sometime. This is from Starbucks and it’s a new drink that just made its debut a few days ago. I had to give it a try! 🙂

So this evening, I took myself on a nature date! I went for the sole purpose of fully appreciating the transition into fall around me, and taking photographs of it all. I highly recommend trying this sometime, to anyone reading! Bring a camera and snap away. It’s refreshing and inspires you to get creative, in my opinion.

Falling for Fall

IMG_4558

♥ Happy Autumn Equinox!!! ♥

It was 97 degrees where I live today, but it doesn’t change the fact that autumn is here at last! And I did everything in my power to celebrate it; the changing of seasons tends to intertwine with our lives and you can just “feel” the change in the air.

IMG_4555

IMG_4549 (1)

IMG_4550

First off – my autumn leaf headband has made its debut of the year. It was about time to air out this bad boy, and the first day of fall is always the day for that!

I’m wearing fall-inspired eyeshadow that has glitter in it! Yay!

IMG_4553

IMG_4563

IMG_4560

Last night, before walking into the house of a birthday get-together I was going to, I noticed the chill in the night air and that fall scent. ♥ I then looked up and saw the International Space Station drifting across the sky, which I hadn’t seen in a long time. So that was like…magical.

If you ever want to see the International Space Station but you aren’t sure where to start, download the Sky Guide app! You can have it notify you when the ISS is passing over, and the sky map will point out where it’s at.

By now, I recognize it immediately in the sky…it’s like seeing an old friend…

IMG_4559

The dress is from Forever 21. ♥ I love it so much…

IMG_4562

IMG_4565

I had coffee earlier today and I sat out on the Starbucks patio, enjoying the day and read quite a bit. I ended my day with a Pumpkin Smash smoothie from Jamba Juice, and a short walk at Woodward Park. There is a gigantic smoke cloud from a wildfire billowing in the background on the right, somewhere in the far off mountains. Yikes…

How do you celebrate fall? I have many fall scented candles…which I have lit, as I type this. I like to eat more apples (than I already do…geeeez, I eat a lot of apples), spend a little more time outside, and (pretty soon) visit the pumpkin patch. ♥

November Mood

autumn-leaves

Hello everyone! I hope the start of the new month is going well for you all!

November has always been one of my favorite months for two reasons:

1) It finally begins to look and feel like fall where I live and the trees start turning colors…

2) It’s my birthday month. 🙂

I like November because it also starts to have more rainy and cloudy days. Fog rolls in too, which isn’t good to drive in of course, but it looks cool from a distance.

I went for a walk with a friend of mine on Sunday, and I took some pictures of the trees changing colors. Outfit photos too, of course!!!

Indeed, I spotted a bunny just hanging out. This one actually let me take a picture, unlike most others that take off running the second I reach inside my purse to take my phone out!

IMG_8384

‘TWAS A NICE EVENING. As you can see, there were leaves everywhere so it made for great photos. 🙂 That top I’m wearing is actually a sweatshirt and was quite warm.

Is everyone ready for winter ahead? I like the idea of winter, but I’m horrible at dressing for cold weather. I really dislike feeling too bundled up, although I love how the styles look. I think I’ll wear a coat like once out of the entire year when I walk to look at Christmas lights! Other than that, I’ll wear tights with my outfits and maybe a scarf and gloves, but never a coat. No wonder I’m always saying ‘I’m freezing!’ during these upcoming winter months. 😉

See you next time! ❤

Orange Mocha!

IMG_8156

Alright alright alright… *Matthew McConaughey voice*.

Hello everyone! I bring you a fresh outfit today, in which I’m wearing a color I typically never wear, and that is orange!

The outfit reminds me of an orange mocha frappucino…

53749878ab63e9f133539b3c836d6e2c

All Zoolander jokes aside, it really does remind me of the Starbucks drink that is no more. I remember years upon years ago, they had the orange mocha frappucino as a summer drink. It was delicious! I wish they’d bring it back.

orange-outfit

IMG_8153

Fortunately, I had an orange scarf that really does compliment the darker orange skirt. Orange is just one of those colors I seldom wear, but I have to say, I think I fell in love with the color today. ❤

IMG_8152

IMG_8145

Orange, light brown and gold really have a somewhat exotic flair when combined together. I think the accessories tie it all together, and a pop of pearls adds an elegant touch.

I think this is one of my favorite outfits I’ve worn lately…I think this is why I’m a huge fan of solid colors in my outfits, because you can mix and match colors to create interesting looks just by pairing new colors together!

Has anyone else thought they weren’t a fan of a certain color, then they tried it out and ended up loving it? 🙂

Enjoy the start of your weekend! ‘Til next time!

Plaid Love

IMG_8110

Happy Monday, everyone!

It’s an extra happy Monday for me because I have the day off to enjoy. So, let’s begin with today’s outfit!!!

IMG_8119

I am a huge fan of plaid, and I pulled out this old scarf I’ve had forever…pink and navy blue is such a gorgeous color combination to me, so I’m really loving this look. There’s a real vintage feel with a long, trailing scarf over one’s shoulder.

It’s another beautiful day with good weather, so what better what to spend today than outdoors? As per usual, I have my iced mocha…pretty soon I will have to switch to the hot mocha for the winter months. I’m a simple gal in that sense: iced mocha, hot mocha. Hot weather, cold weather. 🙂 I stick to what I like.

Enjoy the new week ahead! See you next time!
