2020

Happy New Year!!! 🌟

I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and your year is ending/beginning on a good note. βœ¨πŸ’œ A new decade awaits! I really enjoyed 2019. πŸ˜„

Here is my New Year’s Eve outfit of the day! I wasn’t sure what to wear, so I simply wore a star headband, which adds an instant New Year’s Eve flair. Plus, a good ol’ pattern mix of the dress and the scarf.

Gazing into the unknown…I see Starbucks in my future…

Oh Starbucks, how I love thee. ❀️

I’m happy to begin the year with some epic books. I’ve been wanting to read these FOR SO LONG. They’re a spinoff of the Dear America series, only these are based on royalty throughout history:

I picked the Anastasia book to start off with, since I’m forever drawn to the Romanov story ❀️ (even though it’s terribly sad).

Lastly, I went on a crafting spree the final weekend of 2019 and made new jewelry: brooches, a ring, and necklaces!!! πŸ’œπŸ’™πŸ’š I’ve been wearing the necklaces frequently and I just love them!

Enjoy your New Year’s Eve!! I’m excited to watch Rockin’ New Year’s Eve at Times Square til’ midnight! πŸŽ‰

Feeling that Christmas Glee

Hellooooooo! πŸŽ„

This gorgeous tree belongs to my local Dutch Brothers Coffee, which I had the pleasure to sit by the other day while I worked! πŸ’™ I had to snap a photo of it. Isn’t it stunning?

As it gets closer to Christmas, I find myself feeling extra joyful. I just love all the decorations and lights…that by itself makes the holiday for me! It doesn’t take much to fascinate me. I’m literally like a kid.

I put together a last, fun Christmas outfit, as I don’t have anything spectacular I’m going to wear for Christmas Day itself. But I like what I came up with here. You’ve got green, red, some random birds on my shirt, and baby pink gloves.

I only took two photos because the lighting outside was WEIRD…

My friend and I went for an early evening walk this past week, and the weather was sooo beautiful!! Just look at the sunset with the light hitting the tree tops.

I’m definitely a spring and summer person, and I overlook the beauty of winter sometimes. Not this year! I definitely am taking the time to appreciate it. The grey bleakness, chilled breeze, and foggy nights are definitely a beauty to behold in itself.

The great thing about nature is that it’s always there. You are literally never alone! πŸ’œ I’ve always felt this way; even as a kid, I felt the company of nature and the weather anywhere I went. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized how truly beautiful of a feeling it is.

Christmas in Berlin, illustrated by me! That’s the Brandenburg Gate in the background. Creating this, I wanted it to convey hope, reunification, and Christmas magic universally felt by all, no matter where you are in the world.

See you next time! Have a Merry Christmas!! πŸŽ„

From Russia (and Sweden), with Love

Sometimes you just find that one coffee tumbler, and it’s love at first sight. ❀️

I purchased this Matryoshka Doll Starbucks tumbler on a bid on eBay. I’ve never bid on anything, but I gave it a go and ended up being the only bidder, so it was mine! And it’s really from Russia, as the markings on the bottom of the cup prove for certain (it’s all in Russian, and the only word I understand is Москва (Moscow).

I also found this photograph of the tumblers via the internet (note the Starbucks sign in Cyrillic letters in the background)!

Hot pink, anyone?

I’m on a roll, because I have worn this color like two days straight… 😁 The weather has been unusual, where it’s kind of chilly but not cold either. So half of me is dressed like it’s early fall, and my feet are dressed for exploring the Arctic.

Here’s a cool shot of an abrupt thunderstorm we had last week. My sister and I had literally just parked at Starbucks, proceeded to get out of our cars and walk up to the place, when BOOOOM. Thunder rolled.

I haven’t mentioned it in awhile, but some of you might remember I said before that I’ve been learning Swedish! I take lessons daily using the Duolingo language app, and I also expand my learning by listening to music in Swedish and reading Sydsvenskan, a Swedish newspaper, online.

But can you believe I ended up SPEAKING SWEDISH WITH SOMEONE IN PERSON LAST WEEK?

It happened during my Christmas walk looking at the lights. I passed by a house that said God Jul, which I immediately recognized as Merry Christmas in Swedish. A lady stood in the driveway selling homemade pastries, and I ended up returning to ask if she spoke Swedish. Answering yes, she went on to mention that she’d lived in Sweden for 20 years.

At that moment, Duolingo whispered to me from within:

And that’s when I broke out an unexpected trevligt att trΓ€ffas (nice to meet you), and she appeared to be stunned, then smiled big and said she’d never known anyone here who was learning Swedish! We then exchanged some Swedish phrases, and by the end of our long chat, we bid each other hej dΓ₯! and a wave.

You just never know what’s around the corner! See ya next time!😎

Hey Rudolph

Hello there!! πŸŽ„

It’s December now, so I’m in Christmas mode full throttle. Naturally.

Above are a set of hair clips my sister made for me, featuring Rudolph and Clarice! ❀️ Probably my favorite couple ever. Well, next to Anna and Kristoff from Frozen, that is!

I still need to see Frozen 2, solely to see where their relationship is going.

Anyway, back to the main topic! Watching Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer makes me want to cry, even after I’ve seen it many times. He’s bullied for being different.

Why couldn’t all the judgey reindeers AND Santa have just accepted his nose from the get-go?????? RUDE!

Thus, I’m a hardcore Rudolph fan. I love him no matter what color his nose is. Red, blue, iridescent, disco ball…whatever! ❀️ Rock it, Rudolph.

My socks are uneven…oh well

Tonight I’m going to walk and look at Christmas lights in a residential neighborhood that is known for showcasing stunning decorations!! Ahhh, I love this time of year. ❀️ Coffee in hand, walking and admiring the displays…anyhow, this is my outfit for the occasion!

You can find this festive and fun cardigan on Amazon!

See ya next time!!

32

❀️❀️❀️❀️❀️

My birthday is Wednesday, and I’m cruisin’ towards 32 with a smile! πŸ˜„

I really don’t do a whole lot on my birthday; it’s one of those days I like to just indulge in eating some cake, opening a few gifts and simply appreciate another year of life on this planet! πŸŽ‰ YAY LIFE!!!

Here are two outfits I really loved from this past weekend, both with lots of red! My friend and I took a short day trip to Bass Lake, CA on Sunday. It’s not too far from where I live and provides scenic mountain views! πŸ’•

*Note: my little doll pin from the Island of Misfit Toys (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer)! ❀️

I love this Starbucks in Oakhurst, CA so much!!!

What a magical day…I was able to experience some vibrant fall foliage!! πŸ‚ The leaves were magical. MAGICAL, I TELL YOU!!!

Cheers to birthdays! Have a happy Thanksgiving too, for all of my U.S. readers! πŸ’œ

Epic Golf Socks

Hi!! πŸ’™

DO I GOLF? Nope.

Any kind of sport, it’s best I just stay clear away from. I wouldn’t trust myself with a golf club, in fear of it going flying by accident, as I’m terribly clumsy 99% of the time.

But that doesn’t mean I can’t order a few pairs of argyle socks from Amazon and sport an artsy-woman-meets-the-golf-course look, no??

In fact, I wouldn’t be up for playing golf, but I wouldn’t mind driving a golf cart. It seems like it’d be fun to zoom around in one…

I got these bad boys on Amazon, if you’re interested in getting yourself a pack (they have a variety of patterns to choose from!). ❀️

Are you a socks person? I kind of have to be by default when fall and winter rolls around, as I don’t own a pair of pants!! When the chill rolls in, I bring out the hosiery and socks. πŸ˜€

Lastly, here’s my current read! ❀️ I’ve wanted to learn about the Berlin Wall for some time now.

I realized the other day that the first half of 2019, I read mostly medieval literature. Then the latter half, I’ve been reading historical nonfiction and politics/government. I don’t know how I started getting interested in reading political stuff lately, but now my Friday and Saturday nights consist of me SITTING AT A COFFEE SHOP DRINKING A FESTIVE CHRISTMAS DRINK WHILE ON MY LAPTOP WATCHING C-SPAN.

I will be 32 next week. This is my 30’s, y’all! AND I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! πŸ’•

On a last note, a cool guy in cool pants spotted me sitting on the patio of a coffee shop and we both had EPIC patterns on. So we had to take a picture!

See you next time!!✨✨✨

Aquarium Head and House Tour

Hi!! πŸ’•

What happens when I wear a completely neutral-colored ensemble??? *gasp!* I make sure there’s a splash of color somewhere – in this case, it was on my feet (and hair clips):

RHINESTONE LEGS
fishy fishaaaaay

As I’m sure you GUESSED…the fish are iron-on patches, transformed into hair clips. My head was basically an aquarium for a day. Thanks for all that you have, Joann Fabric! πŸ˜€ Where would I be without you? Where else would I have been inspired to put fish in my hair?

So!!! Ever since I put up my Christmas tree last weekend, I thought it would be fun to do a little house tour, since I haven’t done one in awhile. I’ve changed things around since, and why not showcase some of my favorite things/areas around the house?

The first and last thing I see when I flip on/off my bedside lamp is a photo of an East German soldier passing a carnation through a crack in the Berlin Wall (my favorite photo of all time).

James Cagney and Jean Harlow looking too-cool-for-school on my wall.

A newspaper photo from the Iraq War that I’ve kept since 2004. I saw it in the paper as a teenager and cut it out; it really spoke to me.

This is literally how I store my butterfly hairclips, hahaha! πŸ’œ

Hope you enjoyed a glimpse of my colorful little world! πŸ˜€

See you next time!!
