Rainy Day

Hello! πŸ™‚

We’re finally getting some rain here, so the pink umbrella gets to come out again. I love this umbrella; I’ve had many umbrellas before, and this one is the most long-lasting one I’ve owned (and the prettiest one, to boot).

I’m wearing the boots again, this time with tights, because there’s a cold front rolling in through the weekend and early next week. I think it looks really good (the black tights with the boots).

So I’m super excited that I found this old necklace I used to wear all the time in like, elementary school! I found it amongst some old jewelry I came across. It’s so cute because it’s very subtle and dainty. They’re tiny beads with little flower charms. It reminds me of being a little kid and loving jewelry so much, even then.

The umbrella creates so many neat hues on my hair and face. πŸ˜›

I hear there’s supposed to be thunderstorms possibly early next week!! We seldom get that kind of weather so I’m actually looking forward to it, haha.

It’s funny that I like storms now, because I was terrified of storms as a kid. My mom and I got caught on the outskirts of a very rare (for where I live, anyway) tornado when I was 7 or 8 years old, and any time there were storm warnings after that incident, I’d cry.

I don’t mind storms now. Although, when I hear the Emergency Alert System siren go off on the radio or television, I still get chills (residual fear, I suppose). πŸ™‚

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend! ‘Til next time!

En Janvier

Welcome, world! πŸ™‚

I caught a photo of the super moon from the other night – however many nights ago it was – and it was super bright! I managed to get a decent photo of it. ❀

My start of the year is definitely beginning nicely, I would say! The other day I went for a walk on a different trail, and got myself a hot cup of coffee beforehand to keep warm. This trail is really nice because it’s within the city, so it’s settled in a pretty residential area. Nice for a change of scenery. πŸ™‚

Today’s outfit!

Nothing like finding little dead tree particles to keep me entertained!! There’s nothing left of the big tree out front, except for some twigs and berries…

Today I tried something different: I wore some faux fur boot cuffs! I look ready for treacherous, snowy terrain…

… jk. Don’t the little cuffs add something to the boots, though? Totally changes the entire look!

Overall, this is a very fun look, in my opinion. I think it’d look cute too with an entirely pink outfit! Like a snow-Barbie look.

January is a relaxing, calm month in my opinion because it’s post-holidays, and it’s nestled in a window of time where winter carries on, but there’s that anticipation for spring in the back of my mind in the months to come…

I really tend to romanticize the seasons, don’t I?Β

I’m feeling really positive and happy, as it’s the beginning of a new year and I’m just doing my thing, sketching out ideas for new projects, and ordering the materials I need. ❀ Suuuuuuper excited for that!

I’ll leave you with my latest digital art. I titled it Winter Wonderland and I aimed for it to inspire feelings of joy and wholesome fun.

See you next time! ❀

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!!!

I hope everyone has enjoyed these last few days of 2017. πŸ™‚

It’s been, overall, a year of growth for me! I definitely am most grateful for landing my dream job this year as a graphic designer. I honestly think about it each day and feel much gratitude to have been blessed with such a job, and with great co-workers. ❀

The best thing I did this year was believe in myself. I told myself I deserved a wonderful job where I could utilize my degree and flourish, and I took a chance. Good things take time!

My artistic endeavors have also grown, as I tried my hand this past year at greeting cards, an art mug, and doing abstract paintings, which I plan to carry over into the upcoming year! I explored with my jewelry and have been regularly creating new digital illustrations. I’m thinking of dabbling into international shipping on Etsy (something I’ve been nervous to do, but I hear it’s not that difficult).

I’ve had this fuzzy tinsel sweater for YEARS! I only wear it once a year, and quite fittingly, I wear it on New Years Eve.

What do you think of the star headband? It came out nice, no? I love the glittery stars. Heck, I’m going to wear it again tomorrow for New Year’s Day.

This sweater photographs kind of funny in the sense that in some pictures it looks black, and others it looks navy blue…

I got my nails re-done! I’m so happy to be back to a sheer, neutral shade. I always end up missing natural-looking nails after I try a bolder color.

New Years Eve Night!

To celebrate and ring in the new year, my mom and I made some healthy smoothies; these are berry smoothies that I topped with raspberries and blackberries. SO GOOD.Β  I totally gave them their own photoshoot, haha!

I hope you all have a Happy New Year and it starts out amazing!!! Smile easily and stay true to yourself…those are my words of inspiration to you all!

See ya next time! ❀

Happy Valentine’s Day (jk)

I’m typically way behind the times, but in this case, I’m way ahead!

It might as well be Valentine’s Day with my outfit!!! Well, I love wearing pink no matter what day or month we’re in, but this just screams Valentine’s Day to me, and I think it’s because of the pen.

Yes, that’s a pen! I went shopping for crafts at Dollar Tree and found it. Glittery pink thing? Claimed.

I purchased some cute items specifically for Valentine’s Day while I was there, to make a cute, festive headband and a new statement ring. Starting early!

I’ve been wearing my new ring that my sister bought me for Christmas! It’ll go with everything I wear, any day. It’s very dainty and sweet.

Pink is a powerful color, psychologically. It represents the feminine principle…

I think that’s why I love the color pink so much, and why I incorporate it into what I wear and many times, in my artwork and jewelry! Some may see the color pink as just a girly color, but I find it very powerful.

On a different note, my sister also got me the best planner EVER for Christmas. I can’t tell you how long I’ve wanted a big, decorative planner, but now I have one and boy is it a lot of fun! I’m serious; this thing came with stickers of all sorts and magnet bookmarks. I’ll probably showcase it in another blog post just to display how neat it is!

And oh my, the pen…that was separate from the planner, but isn’t it the cutest thing?!

Anyone else excited for New Years? I am, but mainly because I’m *ahem* also making a New Years headband that will look super festive. (I know, I make a lot of stuff…it’s fun though, aight?)

Do you have any New Years Eve plans? I don’t, but that won’t stop me from looking festive the day of! The night of New Years Eve, I plan on spending it with my mom and making us some delicious, healthy smoothies to celebrate. ❀ I’m looking forward to it!

‘Til Next Time!

Star Wars

Okay everyoneeeeeee…

The time has arrived, and it’s mere hours away before I see Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

You know it’s serious business when I bring out my GALAXY SKIRT.

Not messin’ around now…it just got serious.

This skirt is one I bought on Amazon! Keeping up with Star Wars tradition, I’m wearing it tonight to see the Last Jedi, and I wore it last year to see Rogue One, and the year before to see the Force Awakens.

So the legacy continues! I’m a huge Star Wars fan, so I’m pumped up for this. I insisted on wearing my best galactic attire, and while at work today, I had on the Star Wars soundtrack to get myself mentally prepared for the epic journey…

Out of the entire Star Wars universe, Queen Amidala was always my favorite (she wore the most elaborate costumes and had the most complicated hairstyles…go figure! πŸ™‚ )

Perhaps I’m a tad overly excited about this, or it’s the additional happy factor that my Christmas vacation now begins through Tuesday…either way, I’m super happy right now!

‘Til Next Time! May the Force Be with You! (You know I had to.)

Art Hop Night!

Once a month, my artist friend and I go to Art Hop. It’s downtown, and really a lot of fun! You get to see a lot of people and chat with artists who display their beautiful work. There’s so much variety that it’s impossible to not be in awe!

I went with a bright colored outfit, of course. The daisy headband always adds a splash of fun. ❀

This was unexpected. That is rain, as you can see. Although I knew there was a chance of rain this week, the probability is always low here, especially in the summer! But, what do you know – it happened.  β€

Really loved this exhibit, because it had that very 60’s pop culture/space age vibe going on! So cool. There were so many amazing art exhibits, both inside the galleries and on the street. It always inspires me to keep creating my own art, as well. ❀

We stopped by this coffee shop downtown called The Brew. It’s small and very cute, with a personable atmosphere. I had an iced raspberry mocha. Sooooo good, and the raspberry wasn’t overpowering at all – a nice hint that really complimented the mocha.

Overall, it was a very fun night and I look forward to next month’s show!

While we’re on the subject of art, I wanted to share some of my own, as I’m in the process of getting my art portfolio together…

Coffee & Croissant Time!

Feminine Hues

Folks, I’m not used to doing abstract art as pictured above, because I love going into details. However! It’s a lot more fun than I thought. Getting messy with colors and creating a paired art piece was a fun concept. πŸ™‚

Have a happy Friday! ❀

Here Comes the Sun

Happy Monday, world! ❀

On Saturday night, I perused through my local Claire’s and found a sale going on for hair accessories, so needless to say, I couldn’t pass through without buying something. I’ve always wanted a black-and-red-checkered hair bow, because it has such a rockabilly vibe to it. Finally found one, and I’m in love with it! I have a feeling it’s going to become one of my go-to hair bows now. πŸ˜›

I got my nails re-done. FINALLY. I have a bad habit of thinking, I’ll get them re-done tomorrow…okay the next day…wait, I’ll go next week!Β They were super grown out and it didn’t look so good, lol! I love these; they’re a nice neutral color, which I typically prefer for my nail shape and length.

I usually take my blog photos in the morning, but I ended up taking photos in the evening, right before I went for a walk. The late evening sun made for some interesting lighting concepts! I like it.

The green skirt I’ve had for awhile and bought at Forever 21, and the blouse is a hand-me-down from my mom.

So I stopped by this new place called Rita’s. They serve all kinds of things: Italian shaved ice, frozen custard, etc! It was reeeeally good, and I bought the Juicy Pear flavored Italian shaved ice. It reminded me of Honeydew, which is a favorite flavor of mine.

And then, for a nice walk. It might look like I live out in the middle of nowhere, and in a way, I kind of do; there’s about half-a-million people here, but it’s right in the middle of California. So it’s like a big city in the middle of nowhere, with the coast about 2 or 3 hours away. πŸ™‚ I like walking at this park because it gets me away from the cityscape for a short while.

I love the pink and purple shades of the clouds over the Sierra Nevada mountains last night. There’s a chance of rain this week and I really hope it rains, because I miss it! It’s almost always sunny here.

Capture the beauty that’s all around you. ❀
