Bullet with Butterfly Wings

IMG_3921

Like my Smashing Pumpkins blog post title? Notice I am wearing butterfly hair clips…?? Also, I have an outfit to show you that involves the Pumpkins. So let’s start!

IMG_3930

First off, THIS SHIRT. It’s the most gorgeous shade of purple I’ve ever seen and you can find it for purchase here.

IMG_3933

I ordered this in the mail from eBay. It is Korean-style fashion, apparently! I’m a size US Small, but it recommends to size up one since it’s sized in Asia measurements.

IMG_3923

LOVE IT. It fits perfectly! The intricate details on the front and the lace sleeves are beautifully feminine. I actually have this same shirt in light pink, and a similar one in beige. I wear them both frequently. I’ve been super pleased with all three purchases now!

IMG_3937

My butterfly hair clips are actually glue-on appliques from Joann Fabric! I simply glued alligator clips on the back of each. How easy is that? 🙂 So simple to do and looks super cute!!!

New saddle shoes from BAIT footwear! These are so fun. Ahhhhh…♥

You can find these same shoes here.

On the creative spectrum, I’ve been staying quite busy!!! I’m happy to show the ensemble I’ve decided on for the upcoming Smashing Pumpkins concert I’m going to on the 27th in Oakland! Can you tell I’m excited?

IMG_3898 (1)

So for my outfit, I definitely went with a Mellon-Collie-era theme! I love the whimsical, dreamy aesthetic the band went with during this period of their music.

IMG_3896

I printed out the star lady from the album cover and made it into a ring. ♥

IMG_3900 (1)

I’ve had this star headband for awhile now…glad to be putting it to good use again! I feel like this really tops off the whole look. I can’t waaaaaaaaaaaait!

Originally, I thought I would wear a Smashing Pumpkins shirt with a skirt. However, my hair hides anything on the front of a shirt, which is why I seldom ever wear a shirt with a picture on it.

Instead, I thought I’d get creative and create my own band-inspired outfit.

I’m going to do the same for the Ghost concert in November. I’m happy to say that I’ve already started on the jewelry for that, and here’s a sneak peek…

IMG_3913

It’s done – all I need to do is glue a ring-back on it. OH MY GOSH, I HAVE A GHOST RING. ♥ I’ll probably make another one. Crafting is addicting, you guys…

IMG_3911

…because a fresh new ring was also made Saturday night! Tracy over at The Tote Trove inspired me to make a Disney princess statement ring, awhile after I read her blog post about having made a gorgeous Disney princess necklace.

Joann Fabric is where I found the Beauty and the Beast packet of buttons. I plan on getting the packet with Princess Jasmine in it so I can make one of her in the future.

This ring is HUGE. But it definitely catches your eye, and is a good conversation piece!

Enjoy the start of the new week! ♥

Life Eternal

img_2889.jpg

Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed your week. 🙂 Today I bring you some fun, colorful and happy things. Let’s get started!

IMG_2894

There’s something I adore about red, white, and PINK!!! I made this new red rose headband and I love the combination of these three colors together.

IMG_2912

I also have this headband in hot pink, and you might recognize it because I wear the hot pink one a lot. But yes, I really love the fact I have a red rose one now. In addition, I made a bright yellow one as well! I’ll feature that one soon, I’m sure. 🙂

IMG_2909

I mentioned to Tracy over at The Tote Trove that her beautiful new ice cream barrette she created (and I bought, by the way, so I’ll be wearing it soon as a pin!) reminded me of the first jewelry box I ever made. I figured I’d feature it here:

IMG_2914

I LOVE THIS LITTLE THING! I made it just for fun, years ago. The box itself is made out of cardboard but the pastries are made out of wood, which I painted myself.

IMG_2918 (1)

♥ Doesn’t it look totally edible? ♥

I can’t wait for my little ice cream pin to arrive. It totally reminds me of this. 🙂

IMG_2941

In other news, I totally binge watched a few episodes of Disney’s “Star Darlings” last night. LOOOOOL!!! If there is one show that instantly makes me feel happy – it’s THIS!

It follows a group of girls at Starling Academy in outer space, where they’re training to become wish granters. The show is too cute for words. ♥ Needless to say, Sage (the one with the big purple hair) is my favorite.

IMG_2948

Last but not least, I RECEIVED THE NEW GHOST ALBUM IN THE MAIL TODAY!!!

I so needed this. It couldn’t have been more perfect timing. It’s funny how the theme of the album parallels with my life at the moment, so listening to it from start to finish was like a warm embrace. ♥♥♥

I love when music does that!

I feel so much happier these last few days. You just have to roll with the tides of life and rather than resisting, sometimes you just have to hold its hand instead.

Much love to all who are reading this! See ya!

Music Spotlight: JJ Brown

IMG_0026

Hey everyone!!!

I’m doing something a little different today in this blog post. I’d like to feature a spotlight on a local musician that I know!

My family and I met JJ Brown in 2009, when my sister sold her jewelry outside of a natural food store called Bentley’s (now Lassen’s), and he would play live music. Fast forward to present day, and my mom and I enjoyed a night at The Tasting Room Saturday night to watch him play a live show!

“JJ Brown is a veteran of the United States Navy, and served during the War Against Terrorism and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is also a Berklee Music Graduate, Member of the Recording Academy, BMI featured songwriter, local “Rising Star”, and Actor. He has shared the stage with artist like Clint Black, Kevin Costner, Peter Frampton, the Doobie Brothers, Austin Webb and Drake White.” – courtesy of jjbrownmusic.com

I truly enjoy his music, because you can hear the passion he has through his voice and his heartfelt lyrics; it shows clearly during his live performances, and he can easily captivate an audience. His musical style is so down-to-earth and emotionally open, that you feel as if you know him personally just through his lyrics.

For me, my two favorite songs of his would be “nineteen19” and “Say a Little Prayer”. ❤

“nineteen19” is a feel-good, story-telling style song that takes you on a musical journey through JJ’s time in the U.S. Navy.

“Say a Little Prayer” is a beautiful, poignant tribute to those serving in the military. When it was played live at The Tasting Room, many people (myself included!) were trying to hold back tears.

You can check out more about JJ Brown here!

‘Til Next Time! See ya!

Vinyl!

IMG_9061

Hi there! ❤

I wanted to do a short post about my new record player I bought myself for Christmas! I’ve wanted one for years, and finally purchased one (in pink, of course).

I ordered this record player through Amazon, and with good luck, a local music store had my favorite Ghost album in vinyl; it was the only one they had! It was meant to be. ❤

IMG_9076

I foresee many nights ahead listening to this! And, might I mention, I’m successfully turning everything pink. Isn’t the interior design lovely?

You all know how much I love Ghost. [I’d say the word ‘love’ is definitely warranted and possibly an understatement considering I cried when I saw them live in concert.] Thus, it was only natural that my first vinyl record be a Ghost album!

This has been a nice way to start my Christmas vacation (side note: I saw Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and all I can say is WOW. I loved it! Go see it if you really want your hair blown back).

‘Til Next Time! Merry Christmas Eve!

Some Velvet Morning

white-dress

Hello, hello! ❤

Do you ever just get lost in music? I sure do. With how crazy and nonsensical the world can be at times, I find it easy to retreat into a musical daydream when I submerge myself in a song. It’s like an instant vacation!

At work this past week, I’ve discovered some lovely 60’s gems via Spotify I’ve never even heard of before!! One of them being a charming, blissfully vague psychedelic tune by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood called Some Velvet Morning, which apparently came out in late 1967.

Listening to dreamy, psychedelic music inspired a very dreamy photoshoot this morning before my routine coffee stop and work route. It was super cold, super windy, and we had a heavy rainstorm around 4 a.m.!

There is something I really love about wearing all white…it’s a powerful color, to me. The look of a white dress in my opinion is very two-sided; it can look beautifully pure and innocent, or it can look incredibly eerie, ghostly and somewhat cult-like.

If You Have Ghosts

IMG_6699

I am STILL overjoyed about last night!!!!! I will try to calm down…hahaha!

Last night, I went downtown to see a much-anticipated concert I’ve been dying to go to, because I’m a huge fan. I went to see Ghost, and if you haven’t heard of them, they’re a Swedish heavy metal band that is very controversial for both their attire and song lyrics.

They played at a small venue, in-between touring with Iron Maiden. This was a stand-alone show, and lucky me, they came to my city!

For my outfit, I had to wear my Ghost shirt! The picture is from their debut album. I was super happy I went with a white and pink ensemble, because nearly everyone at the concert was wearing black!

Can’t go without my girly accessories as a final touch!

IMG_6748

These guys are AMAZINGLY talented. They’re very interactive with the crowd, and they know how to own the stage effortlessly! I was insanely happy and even emotional (LOL) because I never thought I’d get the chance to see these guys live, much less in my own city.

Also, I totally became a dreamy-eyed, lovestruck sap when the lead singer sang a few lines of a song and was walking slowly towards my end of the stage, staring right at me. My life feels complete now?? ❤ LOL!

What a night I’ll always remember! I’m still floating above the ground today! 🙂 Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday!

Grey Skies

My favorite kind of weather has always been cloudy days. Here in Central California, we got just that recently! It’s typically sunny here, so cloudy days are a nice change of pace.

img_3731

Cloudy days inspire what kind of music I listen to. I tend to reach for a particular song or specific album on cloudy/rainy days. For me, it’s the album Pisces Iscariot by the Smashing Pumpkins. Not only is it one of my favorite albums by them, it’s also a good rainy day album for me.

Since the weather’s been cooler, I tend to sit outside more often, so the backyard is a nice spot to set up a desk and my laptop. Also snapped some random, spontaneous photography while I was at it.
