Sometimes you just find that one coffee tumbler, and it’s love at first sight. ❤️
I purchased this Matryoshka Doll Starbucks tumbler on a bid on eBay. I’ve never bid on anything, but I gave it a go and ended up being the only bidder, so it was mine! And it’s really from Russia, as the markings on the bottom of the cup prove for certain (it’s all in Russian, and the only word I understand is Москва (Moscow).
I also found this photograph of the tumblers via the internet (note the Starbucks sign in Cyrillic letters in the background)!
Hot pink, anyone?
I’m on a roll, because I have worn this color like two days straight… 😁 The weather has been unusual, where it’s kind of chilly but not cold either. So half of me is dressed like it’s early fall, and my feet are dressed for exploring the Arctic.
Here’s a cool shot of an abrupt thunderstorm we had last week. My sister and I had literally just parked at Starbucks, proceeded to get out of our cars and walk up to the place, when BOOOOM. Thunder rolled.
I haven’t mentioned it in awhile, but some of you might remember I said before that I’ve been learning Swedish! I take lessons daily using the Duolingo language app, and I also expand my learning by listening to music in Swedish and reading Sydsvenskan, a Swedish newspaper, online.
But can you believe I ended up SPEAKING SWEDISH WITH SOMEONE IN PERSON LAST WEEK?
It happened during my Christmas walk looking at the lights. I passed by a house that said God Jul, which I immediately recognized as Merry Christmas in Swedish. A lady stood in the driveway selling homemade pastries, and I ended up returning to ask if she spoke Swedish. Answering yes, she went on to mention that she’d lived in Sweden for 20 years.
At that moment, Duolingo whispered to me from within:
And that’s when I broke out an unexpected trevligt att träffas (nice to meet you), and she appeared to be stunned, then smiled big and said she’d never known anyone here who was learning Swedish! We then exchanged some Swedish phrases, and by the end of our long chat, we bid each other hej då! and a wave.
You just never know what’s around the corner! See ya next time!😎
