Spanish Rose

IMG_4446

Morning air
Cold, it dares
A gentle hum
Of fall to come
Summer dreams
Far, they seem
Harvest awaits
The season’s fate

IMG_4473

I’m no poet (not a genre I’m good at), but I randomly wrote the above fall poem the other day, on a whim. ♥

How’s everyone? I hope wherever in the world you may be, you’re enjoying this mid-September. The leaves are falling and the temperature is dropping, to the point where it’s chilly in the mornings and the evenings.

I’ve been soaking up the fall feeling as much as I can. Here is some evidence of that from this past week:

IMG_4486

Admittedly no easy read (very graphic details), I’ve been reading The Great Mortality by John Kelly. This dives deep into the history of the Black Death, and it’s been hard to put down!!! I sat in Teazer’s the other day, sipping a Tiger Spice Chai and hearing the live music from the farmers market right outside the store. It was perfect and I ended up reading a lot that evening, until I decided to roam outside and buy fresh tomatoes and Armenian cucumbers.

Reading this has given me so much empathy for those living back in the time of the plague (and did you know it still exists today? Even in the U.S. …Google it, I’m not lying!). It’s hard to find anything to complain about in life when I’m reading about what these people went through. Definitely alters your perspective.

IMG_4490

IMG_4492

Doesn’t this coffee art just scream fall? ♥ And it was delicious, of course. I have missed hot drinks! This was from Kuppa Joy coffeehouse.

IMG_4441

Let’s get started on this week’s fun outfits, shall we?

This first one was a favorite of mine that I wore on Monday. To me it totally has Spanish vibes going on, which I’m quite partial to! ♥

IMG_4442

I felt like I should’ve been strolling through the streets of Barcelona, or Madrid, and finding some cute café to sit at and people watch. I enjoy people watching…and not in a creeper kind of way. Who knows, maybe I come off as a creeper. Oh wellz.

IMG_4439

The red rose hair clips and the vintage-looking choker really tops off the Spanish look. I feel like I can easily play up the look and it feels natural, probably because I am part Spanish from my dad’s side.

Never knew him, but I do know he was a Spanish/Italian guy who was really artistic, a bit of a loner by choice at times and had an eccentric fashion sense. Apparently those are inheritable traits, because I’ve been all of those things my entire life. Bahahaaa…

IMG_4431

IMG_4445

IMG_4459

IMG_4470

Keeping up with the rose theme, this was my outfit on the day I went to Teazer’s and farmers market in the evening. I did the double-necklace-thing again for vintage vibes. ♥ Boooooooom…

IMG_4483

IMG_4484

IMG_4481

The leaves make for such a lovely backdrop, don’t they? I love seeing them all scattered around. This time of year feels so alive!

After I finish the plague book, I think I’ll read something about Leonardo Da Vinci. I’ve been feeling strangely drawn to reading more about his life. I’ll generally feel a random pull towards a certain subject, and I always follow it. So that’s what I plan on reading next!

Happy fall. 🙂 (Oh wait…it’s not fall just yet. We still have a week, but it’s close!)

‘Til next time! ♥

Rockin’ Retro

IMG_2640

Behold, a STICK!!!

Hi! I bring a double outfit post today, so sit back and enjoy! It was a fun-filled weekend and I wore two outfits I really loved and wanted to share. Yay!

IMG_2630

A lovely white frock adorned with little red hearts! I wore this on Valentine’s Day, and haven’t worn it since. No idea why I haven’t? I’ve been missing out, because this dress is awesome!!!

IMG_2628

The lace sleeves are actually separate. I wore a lace top underneath to give it a more feminine look.

IMG_2631

IMG_2633

DANG IT, WIND!!!!!!!!!!

IMG_2637

IMG_2635

This was my Friday outfit. I went for coffee with a friend that night and we chatted and caught up on life. It was a perfect, warm evening to boot. 🙂

IMG_2664

Here’s the second outfit! I wore this on Sunday, and this was another super retro look, paired with the bow. ❤ (Also, I love my crooked bangs, by the way).

IMG_2653

I look like I’m up to something…but what?

IMG_2652

This lace trim collar is detachable. My sister made it for me, and I love it! Instant vintage vibes. 🙂

IMG_2659

IMG_2660

IMG_2662

My beat up, old shoes…

IMG_2670 (1)

Aw, look at those cracks. What’s funny is that I have so many brand new shoes I love to wear (like the other black ones pictured in the first outfit), but every now and then, I still bring out these old-timey shoes because I just love them for some reason.

I randomly painted some rocks, too…

IMG_2679

The top one looks like a sugar cookie, doesn’t it? I don’t recommend taking a bite. 😉

These are cute decorations for my backyard. I loooove how they turned out. I’ve wanted to paint a few rocks for awhile now, and glad I finally did!

In a nutshell, my weekend was fabulous! I went to a small craft fair on Saturday evening to see my friend who had her own booth setup there, then spent the remainder of the evening at Barnes & Noble.

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. 🙂

See ya!

Le pique-nique

IMG_2612

I’m not actually going on a picnic. But this outfit looks like I am, huh??

Gingham! A print I truly love and find oh-so-charming is coming back into my wardrobe, with summer rolling around soon. It just has that summer feel, so this is the time of year I tend to start wearing it.

It is from H&M, but I bought it last year, so it’s been awhile. 🙂

First off, I hope everyone’s been having a good week! Mine seemed to fly by in a blur. Although, it was a quiet week at work. I’ve been reading a lot, on my own time. My current read is a historical non-fiction book, and actually I’m just about wrapping it up…

IMG_2568

This book is soooooooo fascinating, albeit very creepy at the same time. It’s just an eerie subject because the author is concluding that no one will ever truly know what caused this, and I also learned a tremendous amount of things about this time period…some of it, I kind of wish I was still oblivious of.

It mentions the writings of the Brothers Grimm in a theoretical thought, which I found to be super interesting:

IMG_2601

So fascinating to think the dancing plague could have been an inspiration in the original Snow White story!

All-in-all, it’s a fast read that pulls you in and keeps you engaged throughout, and I have truly been enjoying it!

Outfit time. 🙂

IMG_2611

Ahhhhh…blue and white gingham: Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz vibes! I’ve always been fond of her dress in that film, since I was little. It has such an old-fashioned, demure look to it.

IMG_2606

And if you add a little floral tie headband in your hair, you’re definitely stepping up the retro look.

IMG_2603

IMG_2604

IMG_2621

Doesn’t the backyard look cute? It’s funny how the entire look of it has changed since it’s been painted green. I absolutely love it.

There was a two-lane highway of ants on that tree, by the way. Silly me had my hand on it until I realized I was not alone. Fortunately I was spared from having any ants get on me…hahaaaaa.

Well folks, I hope you enjoyed this post and thanks for reading!

‘Til next time! ❤

Fit for a Queen

IMG_2522

Hiiiiiiiiiiiii.

How are you all?! I hope whoever you are, wherever you are, you’re doing fantastic!

I have a double feature today for my post, so sit back, and enjoy!

First off…yesterday I showcased at Art Hop for the second time! It was really fun and I have photos to share.

IMG_2518

Just noticed my reflection is in the picture…and my car, straight ahead. LOOOOL.

I took the day off to enjoy a relaxing day before the show started, and ended up at my favorite coffee shop that morning. And what was I doing, you may ask? Why, studying Swedish, of course. I’m learning it for fun, just because I enjoy learning other languages. What better way to learn than with a kopp kaffe, non? (That was a French/Swedish mashup, right there.)

I should probably not mashup different languages in a sentence because that’s exactly what got me a C in Italian in college. Yikes!!! Italian was hard for me and I’d end up accidentally writing answers in a mix of French and Italian on tests.

IMG_2524

The vintage nightgown/robe I’m so crazy about, which I did a blog post about last weekend, is back! I couldn’t NOT wear it to Art Hop…too cute! Also, I noticed that just wearing a different color skirt underneath totally changes the look. The material is so sheer that it adapts to whatever color you put beneath! Here, it looks more white.

IMG_2526

IMG_2525

IMG_2537

This is my standard setup at Art Hop, although this time, I had new greeting cards and I brought one of the fiction books I published a few years back! So it was a combination of several different things. 🙂

I really want to try more traditional media, for a change. I’ve gotten so used to digital illustration that I feel I need to try something new that will challenge me. So that’s my next artistic endeavor.

It was a fun evening and a lot of people were out at Art Hop. Good times!

Happy Star Wars Day!

IMG_2547

SO!!! It came to my attention last night that on this lovely Friday, it is May 4th, which is Star Wars Day! I totally had to wear my Queen Amidala shirt to celebrate today!

Fun fact: I bought this shirt in 1999. I was in 6th grade when Episode I: The Phantom Menace came out (can’t believe it’s going on 20 years now). As a young girl, I was obsessed with the Queen, and even my English teacher back then nicknamed me The Queen because I had so much Queen Amidala merchandise (folders, T-shirts, etc).

What’s not to love? She’s the queen of her own beautiful planet, she’s strong-minded and has a wardrobe like no other. Oh, and her hair! It’s a given why I adore her so much. 😉

IMG_2550

IMG_2551

IMG_2558

IMG_2555

And there you have it, folks! It was fun to bring out this shirt again. I think I’ll make it a new tradition to wear it on May the 4th, from now on. Heck, I may as well watch The Phantom Menace tonight while I’m at it!

I hope you enjoyed reading!

See you soon! Or if you want some Swedish…vi ses snart! 😉

An Ode to the Love Witch

IMG_2438

Hello there! Today I bring you two outfits that are inspired by a fictional character in film!

They’re inspired by The Love Witch! Now, I have actually never seen the movie, but the fashion alone caught my eye immediately from film stills. I find myself saving photos of the main character’s dreamy, 1960’s outfits on Pinterest frequently!

First Outfit!

0b3724a155a99fb3fc7148c18a536957

I love how this gorgeous yellow and white ensemble looks both Victorian and 1960’s simultaneously! The choker is such a nice addition.

My Version:

IMG_2419

IMG_2409

Clearly my outfit differs from hers, but the general color palette and the accessorizing is what I was going for!

I’ve had this yellow dress for awhile now and it’s from Goodwill. I loooove lace, so I thought it paired well with the dress et voilà! I added a thick black choker and I realized I created my own variation of the character’s outfit, straight out of my closet.

Second Outfit!

love-witch-red

This stunning red looks amazing on her! I’m really not a wearer of red very often, but I recently ordered a new blouse from Amazon and decided to give it a try with a matching red skirt I also bought on Amazon!

My Version:

IMG_2455

IMG_2456

Mine’s a bit of a darker red, but same idea! I lucked out that my skirt matched almost perfectly with the blouse.

IMG_2454

IMG_2448

My car and I are twins! I had to get a picture!!! 🙂

I hope you enjoyed the outfit post today! Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!

Metal Mermaid

IMG_2213

Hello everyone and welcome! 🙂

My outfit today is a combination of mermaid and doom metal (that’s my beloved Ghost shirt I’m wearing), and the headband is new!

IMG_2194

It’s made out of buttons and felt fabric. I’ve never worked with felt before, and I really love how it turned out! Mermaid vibes!

IMG_2217

To match, I wore my gigantic made-it-myself seashell statement ring. ❤

IMG_2204

Ghost just released a new single this past week called Rats, and I LOVE IT SO MUCH. It’s been on repeat in my car for the past few days. I can’t wait for their new album in June!!!

IMG_2280

My friend and I went to a fancy fruit stand late this afternoon, and I matched the interior. Nice photo opportunity or what?

IMG_2199

Someone on Etsy sent me a message asking if I could make one of my rings into a pin. I decided to make my first pin this weekend, and I like it! It’s in the shop now, and I’m currently sporting it on my laptop bag:

IMG_2189

IMG_2191

Pretty, no? 😀

Hope you enjoyed your weekend! ❤

Busy Bee

IMG_2150

Hello again!

Could it BEE any windier today?! (haha, you’ll understand the pun later!)

The weather was nice and warm earlier today, and literally out of nowhere, by the time I got out of work, I walk outside all obliviously and I’m hit with a gust of wind.

It was tricky getting these outfit photos, but I really wanted to take them because red and yellow are a combination I don’t typically wear, n’est-ce pas?

IMG_2118

Evidence of the struggle: here is a picture of my phone falling. The wind hit really hard and WHOOSH! The phone, while attached to the tripod, went tumbling down. But the cool thing is that the timer continued to count down and it caught an awesome live-action still!

Now, back to the outfit!

IMG_2151

My outfit is a nice hodgepodge of many things. To me, my outfit:

  1. Reminds me of something Disney-esque.
  2. Reminds me of the 70’s.
  3. Makes me want ketchup and mustard.

IMG_2152

IMG_2158

IMG_2176

The downside: I’ve been charged at by bees two days in a row. In fact, it’s getting ridiculous!!!

The first incident was yesterday during my lunch hour. I typically eat in my car with the windows rolled down, and suddenly I hear the sound of doom.

Bzzzzzzzz…

It was a yellow jacket, at MY side of the window. Terrified, I literally rolled across the center console of my car, over the passenger seat, and out the door. It happened so fast…suddenly I was outside of my car. The question now was: where was the bee? Fortunately, it wasn’t in my car, as I thoroughly checked and then spent the rest of my lunch with the windows up.

But then when I came back into the office, a honeybee came charging at me as I walked in. Then, today on my break!

Screen Shot 2018-04-04 at 9.40.50 PM

I think bees are attracted to bright colors, and I also heard they’re attracted to sweet smelling hairspray/lotion/perfume. So I’m pretty much an airport for bees.  😦

I’ve been staying a busy bee myself lately, having just finished and released a new textbook at work (yay!), and brainstorming ideas for new artsy creations. I’m trying out my first wallet design!

Screen Shot 2018-04-10 at 7.39.19 PM

Zazzle.com makes it really easy to get my artwork printed on things! I plan on gluing rose charms to the blank pink strips above and below the picture, to add some pizzazz to the overall look. Once it’s complete, I’ll be sure to post photos! ❤

Enjoy the rest of your week! See you next time!

Berry Delightful, Indeed…

IMG_1893

Hello there, and a happy Good Friday to you!!! I had a half day at work, so the rest of this day has been spent frolicking around in my backyard taking blog photos, eating berries, and now I’m writing this, sitting at a coffee shop. ❤

IMG_1905

I realized something; I eat a LOT of berries. Berries are a staple in my daily diet. For breakfast, I eat plain cereal with fresh raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries mixed in. Now, strawberries are making a comeback in my diet…

IMG_1898

And in my HAIR. YESSSSSSSSS!!! The strawberry barrettes are baaaaack!!! *electric guitar solo blasts*

IMG_1912

Strawberries are not only good for eating, but for wearing in one’s hair. I love these quirky barrettes!

IMG_1916

IMG_1925

I can’t remember where I bought the red dress (it’s very old), but the half-top is from Forever 21. 🙂 The weather here is around a lovely 80 degrees, so the short-sleeves are making a debut!

IMG_1941

I was observing my outfit today, and while it’s very summery and picnic-y, it kept reminding me of something…just couldn’t figure out what. I kept thinking as I was getting ready for work early this morning, and then it hit me!

IMG_1885

While the outfit styles are completely different, the same color palette applies! The colors of my outfit totally make me think of my favorite scene from A Walk to Remember. Don’t even get me started on how much I love this film! I watch it frequently and it’s my favorite romance movie, ever.

77f410edebd6224a2f88dc3449837ad4

Alright alright, I know I’m getting sappy here, but seriously, this is my favorite scene! And as an astronomy lover to the core, this is like, the most romantic thing ever. Haha! ❤

I relate a lot to the fact that her character is really into astronomy. I have a telescope as well, but not of that magnitude…and since warm nights are ahead, you’ll find me in the front of my house at night with my Sky Guide app on my phone open, aiming it at the sky.

IMG_1884

And no matter what, I always look up where this comet is when I have my Sky Guide app open at night! Of course, there’s no way of seeing it since it’s perpetually in deep space, but in a strange way, I miss this comet. Before you start thinking I’m nuts, don’t leave yet; I remember seeing Hale-Bopp in 1997 when I was a child, and I have never forgotten it. It only comes around every 2,000 years so…not like we’ll be seeing it again or anything.

So yes, this is my favorite comet because I feel lucky to have seen it. ❤ In fact, I named half of my Etsy shop name after it – PinkBopp. I even did a school report on it when I was 10, haha.

I hope you enjoyed this strange blog post concoction of fruit, romance films and deep space. See you in my next Easter blog post!

My Umbrella Broke…

IMG_1804

…but I figured, why not just do a photoshoot of the broken umbrella anyway?

No big deal. It’s only MY FAVORITE UMBRELLA.

You can see the metal protruding from the pink fabric, in the above picture. In the meantime, I’m using a polka dot one I have on hand but…I need to buy a new pink one. 😦 I’ve had this one for soooooooooooo long.

I’ve been in a REALLY good mood this week. A super good mood, in fact! However, there’s electrical issues in my house in the main room I use (it’s being handled, just have to have patience) and then today my umbrella broke.

IMG_1798

But I’m still determined to be upbeat, despite all the annoyances. Featured above is me with a big ol’ grin that makes it seem like I’m oblivious to the damage, but the main star of the show is my broken umbrella. I’m just a supporting character in this.

IMG_1797

IMG_1800

IMG_1802

I don’t normally wear much blue, but I went all out today! I really love this denim jacket (fun fact: I’ve had it since 6th grade).

A huge storm is headed our way this evening and into the night!!! Should be cool, as there’s expected to be thunder and lightning. I’m currently sipping a hot mocha at Starbucks, writing this blog post, and then I’m going to start working on a new digital illustration. ❤

But back to the main point:

Screen Shot 2018-03-21 at 6.36.23 PM

Therefore, I need to be on the lookout for a new pink umbrella, and once I find one, I’ll be sure to feature it in a future rainy day post. Without metal sticking out of it!

See ya next time!

Shamrock Day

IMG_1763

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!!

I’m decked out in green today and loving my outfit so much!

Wasn’t the above picture a great photo op or what?! I had those fake roses on hand and decided to take a shot of me holding them, since I’m wearin’ pink roses today and all.

IMG_1619

I made a new ring last night; I called this one Springtime in Kyoto, and it’s going in my Etsy shop today. I was getting creative ideas a few weeks ago from travel books, and I was in awe of how beautiful Kyoto, Japan is and was inspired to make a statement ring with blossoms. ❤

IMG_1631

I think this is like, the only green clothing I own. I really don’t own a lot of green attire, but I’m lucky to own this top and skirt that pair exceptionally well together!!

IMG_1655

IMG_1647

I blend into the garage door!!!

IMG_1663

T-strap shoes are so delightfully retro, aren’t they?! This is another pair of shoes from B.A.I.T. footwear that I adore so much. They’re so ladylike and feminine.

IMG_1666

I hope you all have a happy St. Patrick’s Day and are wearing some green! ❤

‘Til next time! Have a happy weekend!
