A Happy Start

Hello!!! 💜

Doesn’t 2019 already feel like a great year? Is it just me? I don’t know but, it feels like good vibes so far. 😉

Fashionably, it’s also off to a great start. I only know how to dress “how I feel”. So what I wear daily is essentially my personal canvas…like, here we all are in our vessels (our human body that our soul ended up in), sailing on the endless sea of existence…what shall I wear today?

I typically always feel happy, so I gravitate towards the sweet colors. Especially lately!

Literally looks like I have 1 boob in this photo. It’s a lie anyhow, as I am flatter than a pancake that’s been ran over by a car. Thanks for the illusion though, shirt-wrinkle!

I have been thinking lately about places I’d like to visit that have been rolling around in my head. These places aren’t even far from me so I ask myself, why have I not gone yet?

First! Santa Monica. It’s a done deal and I told my friend, let’s go! I’ll drive. 😀 So next weekend it is! I’ve been many times but, there’s just something about that city. 💜

Second? Yosemite. It’s only maybe an hour away. The world famous National Park is calling to me for some reason, and I’m not even a big fan of the mountains.

See, I enjoy falling in love with places. The vibe a place has, the scents, the overall feeling of energy it gives me. Whether it be a warm coffee house listening to the sound of drinks being made and chatter, the beach, the mountains, or at a concert packed with people and the music pounding in my ears.

On a final note: do you have a food wish list? Foods that you hope to try someday? I do and there are two foods on my radar right now…

1. Barfi (pictured above). This is a sweet treat that is really popular in Pakistan. I’ll have to google where I can find these near me!

2. Vegetarian BorschtPopular in Eastern Europe and Russia. I don’t know why I want to try this so much lately…maybe because it is winter and it’s a hot soup, but I just do. I know exactly where to get this, as a restaurant near me makes it, and they also have TURKISH COFFEE there, which I also want to try!

If you have any, what is on your food wish list? 😀 Have you tried the foods that are on my wish list and if so, what did you think of them? Do tell!

See you next time!

Hi!! 💙 I hope you are having a great start to your new year, 2019! ⭐️

Did you all enjoy your New Year’s? I really did; I had a little New Year’s Eve party with my mom and sister at home. We had cheese and crackers with a bottle of root beer, and watched the Rockin’ New Year’s Eve countdown. 🎉 Fun fun fun…

Here are two outfits from last week!

I really love exploring the world of colors, and what pairs with them. I remember how much I enjoyed taking Color Theory in college. I could easily spend an hour browsing color palettes on Pinterest, getting ideas for outfits. 💜

IMG_5922

I really don’t make New Year’s resolutions, but I have started a tradition where I pick out three books to launch the start of the year! And the above book is my first and current read to start off 2019: The Cistercian World: Monastic Writings of the Twelfth Century.

I didn’t know what to expect with this, but I wanted to immerse myself in something that was, hopefully, profoundly spiritual. And boy is that what I got. It’s actually becoming one of my favorite books.

IMG_6068

The book is a collection of writings penned by monks, and it’s actually very easy to understand, which surprised me. It’s mostly their thoughts on spirituality and their personal experiences in a monastery. I feel like this book is a gem, like I found it nine centuries later hidden in a tree or something, and I’m getting to see a glimpse inside their world and their thoughts—like a secret friendship.

IMG_6067

I wandered around Barnes & Noble a few nights ago, sipping a hot peppermint mocha from the café and perusing the aisles. You wouldn’t believe my surprise when I came across a book for beginning Norwegian!!!

I was so surprised to have found it that I had to get it; I actually plan to study Norwegian after I finish my Swedish course, so it’ll be of good use. The nice thing is that both  languages have strong similarities, so I already recognized a lot of Norwegian words.

My newest illustration: Coffee with Friends. This wonderfully weird gal has insects, a rat, and a plant that is apparently alive and drinks coffee too as her friends. Cute, no? 💜

See ya next time!!!

Notice anything funny about these photos…?

Some are blurry. I bought a new phone! It’s an iPhone 8 and I really am loving it. However, I’m trying to get accustomed to the camera. It takes photos a bit differently than my older iPhone I previously owned. I’m learning, hahaaaa…

I love the fact that my battery lasts soooo long now, as opposed to my last one. It’s super fast, too.

IMG_0047

I like the blue tint my phone naturally gave the sky in this photo. I didn’t edit anything. Although, it looks like it’s -40 degrees outside…

Speaking of cold weather; I have a pen pal that lives in Siberia. (Does anyone else have a pen pal? It’s quite a thing of the past it seems, but it’s really awesome. You get to learn about a different culture and discuss the differences of your country to theirs. I highly encourage giving it a try, and there are plenty of pen pal websites to choose from! Be cautious of course, but there are plenty of people looking for a genuine friendship-only correspondence.) Anyway, I always feel silly saying how cold it is in California…to my pen pal that lives in Siberia. It’s like I don’t even have the right to talk about the cold, when I hear that people’s eyelashes are freezing over there!

IMG_0045

I made this nifty little bow myself! I’ve been wanting a pink bow headband and have searched relentlessly online, only to realize I could just make one. Thus, I did. All it required was ribbon, a blank headband, and a few minutes!

IMG_0053

You can see that I have a sheer, glittery white ribbon intertwined with a pink ribbon. Side note: I really like this picture of me because in the lighting, it looks like I have a little BUCK TOOTH.

IMG_0048

I really love this lace blouse! It’s originally meant to be a high-neck top, but I wore it with the buttons open. You can wear it either way, and it can be found here.

Food Corner

IMG_0058

I don’t typically talk about food on my blog, but I have a true testimony in regards to garlic and onion, which is what I’ll be discussing! (Totally gave it a photoshoot – didn’t the picture turn out pretty?)

For the past four months or so, I’ve eaten raw garlic and onion at least three times a week – not just because I love it, but I read that these two foods are great for an immunity boost! It helped in ways I wouldn’t have imagined, though…

A quick backstory; for the past three years, I had a seasonal dry cough in the winter months. It was really awful and any time I breathed in cold winter air, I’d cough almost non-stop. Cough drops did nothing, locally-grown honey with lemon in hot water did nothing, so I just dealt with it and coughed my way through winter.

Once I began eating raw garlic and onion regularly for a few months, not only did I completely dodge the cold/flu that went around the office, but my dry winter cough vanished! It’s 100% gone!

So, if you are looking for a great way to boost your immunity, I kindly recommend raw onions and garlic.* (I would say for seasonal dry cough relief, use it for that too, but just because it worked for me doesn’t mean it will work for everyone else! Of course, you can consider it and try it for yourself!)

The way I eat it:

  • I smear a light amount of cheese or hummus onto pumpernickel bread
  • Chop up some onion of your choice – for me, I like white onion
  • Chop up one clove of garlic
  • I include tomatoes for flavor
  • Place onto sandwich, and enjoy!

*in addition to these foods, my diet consists of mainly fruits, vegetables, nuts and fish…okay, and Starbucks mochas…so collectively, some of these other foods may also aid in immunity-boosting benefits!

I hope you enjoyed this post! ‘Til next time! ❤

A Bygone Era

IMG_9359

Hi everyone!!! ❤

I’m so happy to showcase this outfit, which is probably my favorite thus far. I’ve wanted an ice pink, lace-y, retro outfit for a long time, and I finally managed to put one together into a very dream-like ensemble!

I wore this on Monday, when I had a day off from work and went to my sister’s house. Her house makes for such a nice backdrop, and it was incredibly foggy that morning, which created a neat effect visually.

Folks, I don’t know how I can put into words how much I love this outfit!!!!! Yes, I’m totally squealing over it.

Similar to the beige blouse I posted in my last entry, you can find this top here! It’s very light and very comfortable.

I love lace, and anything pink, so it goes without saying that it’s a dream come true to find such an item.

I love this shade of pink; I think it’s my favorite. It reminds me of a bygone era, and the color is so sweet and feminine. Come to think of it, it’s not a color I see worn too often, really.

It’s cold, so I wore the outfit with tights and boots, but in the springtime, it’ll look even more retro with some simple flats and no tights. Spring…where art thou? ❤

Enjoy your weekend! See ya!

Being Beige

IMG_9344

Hello there, everyone!!

It’s super cold, but I couldn’t wait any longer to wear one of my new lace tops that look ultra vintage. I have three of them in different colors/styles, but I think this beige one is my favorite, hands down!

IMG_9320

This blouse makes me think of the 1970’s, or even further back with its Edwardian-era influence. I’m a huge fan of off-the-shoulder tops, but add lace and flowing ruffles? Definitely a new favorite blouse in my closet!

vintage-top2

As you can see, the entire blouse is connected by a thin veil material and is technically a turtleneck. This is probably the coolest blouse I’ve ever purchased, along with the pink and white one I have yet to show. ❤

You can purchase the blouse here!

I took a lot of photos of this outfit, so clearly I loved it, can’t you tell? 🙂

prison-break-dvd

In other news, I’ve been watching a show I haven’t watched in a looooong time, and honestly, it’s probably the only time you’ll ever catch me writing about a television show! I just never watch shows. This came out in 2005, if that puts things into perspective.

So yes: Prison Break! I didn’t get into the rest of the seasons, but I totally love Season 1 and have it on DVD. I’ve been indulging in some episodes the last few nights, under a warm, cozy blanket. ❤

It’s really adrenaline-fueled and action-packed. I think episodes 6 & 7, Riots, Drills, and the Devil (part 1 & 2) are my favorites because it’s one big heart-stopping prison riot during both episodes.

prison-break2

I love the good-guy main characters, of course (i.e., Michael and Lincoln), but strangely enough, I was always drawn to Agent Kellerman. Grrrrrr!!! I shouldn’t be, because he’s a very dark character.

I think it’s because, for someone who so easily can kill off people as a special agent and seems to not show any remorse or backwards glance about it, I instinctively want to give him a hug, take him out for some Baskin Robbins ice cream and gently ask where in his life everything went wrong…?

prison-break

I’m going to threaten you with blackmail, all while casually eating a Shaved Ice with a smile on my face.

But seriously, it’s been fun to indulge in this show again. When I first watched it, I was in high school. My mom, sister and I would order a pizza and watch it on Monday nights. Memories!

Enjoy your day! ‘Til next time!

It’s a Colorful Life…

Fasten your seatbelts.

Alright, it’s not that adrenaline-fueled, but I do have some exciting news! I know I mentioned in my last post that I sold my first greeting card. It’s heading to Texas and as you can see from the above picture, I was all smiles about it and had to capture my glee on camera.

Apart from that, I’ve successfully made some new rings that I’m super excited to share!

rings

The one on the left is my absolute favorite EVER. The one on the right is one I made for Valentine’s Day and both rings are in my Etsy shop as of now! Also, I added international shipping to my shop, finally. ❤

IMG_9279

Can you tell I’m a little in love with this one? It’s definitely not for the faint of heart and calling it a statement ring almost seems like an understatement (haha). Nevertheless, I can’t get enough of it!

IMG_9267

This is actually the original one I made for myself. I was able to go about my work day and type like normal, much to the astonishment of my co-workers…

IMG_9293Let’s throw in today’s outfit while we’re at it! I wore my favorite sweater dress.

IMG_9292

It was a good week with a lot of creativity flowing. ❤ I always love when I get new ideas and jot them down on paper. That’s why I always keep a small notebook in my purse.

How was everyone’s week? I hope it was good for you all. 🙂

See ya! ❤

Don’t Be Afraid to Sparkle

IMG_9244

This is a very sparkly post! Doesn’t my headband and choker give it away? 😉

This new headband is so sparkly that I’m actually worried about blinding someone if the sunlight hits it…it’s way more sparkly in person than photographs can capture.

rhinestone-choker2

rhinestone-choker

Really loving this rhinestone choker from Forever21! I bedazzled myself entirely today, because why not? It makes life more interesting.

IMG_9235

This shirt is neat; I like the random yet intentional hole in the middle, ahaha! It is separate from the dress, so it can be worn as an additional piece to any outfit, really.

IMG_9237

Funny expression. 😛 I’m not the best at posing, but I really don’t take outfit photos to be taken seriously – it’s more for fun and to capture my own unique outfits to look back on!

IMG_9240

It’s been a rainy week here off and on, and honestly not quite as cold as I thought it would be, which is good! 🙂

I received really awesome news today: I sold one of my greetings cards on Etsy!!! I was totally surprised and really happy to know that someone wanted something with my own illustration on it. ❤

IMG_7376

It was this one! I’m so happy. Also, I got some of my materials in the mail, so I’ll be making some new rings shortly. 🙂 🙂 🙂

IMG_9250

Last night, my friend and I checked out a new coffee shop where I live. This was a chili mocha, and oh my was it deeeeelicious! Doesn’t it look dreamy?

Let’s revert back to the theme of sparkly stuff, though. Figuratively speaking, I think everyone sparkles in their own way. Whether it be their smile, their humor, their fashion sense, their quirks, their talents, their intellect, their kindness, etc. …the list can go on and on.

That’s my inspiration for today! I urge everyone to sparkle, in whatever way you do. Celebrate yourself and let yourself shine to the world. You never know who may need the light.

“Glitter, sparkle, shine…but most of all, be kind.”

‘Til next time! ❤
