I Love Hair Clips That are Meant for Kids

Tis the season for cloudy and foggy days!! The grey skies could use some color, so that’s where my outfit comes in, and also my stash of kids hair clips I keep within easy reach on my bathroom counter. I love these things…

They make me think of elementary school in the early-to-mid 90’s. Here are the highlights of my elementary school life that I fondly think back on:

  • Wearing two different colored socks to school each day
  • Being on the cheer squad
  • Being Commissioner of Grounds (I won every time because I was the only kid who ran for it), in which I was given a clipboard and map of the school and was granted permission by my teachers to walk around the campus once a week to rate how clean the school was. I still vividly remember walking across the playground and onto the dewey grass in the winter months, surrounded by fog in the early morning hour, and marking my little paper whether the field deserved a 1-5 score on cleanliness. Then I gave the report to the janitor.

So basically, they were epic times…

I LOVE ORANGE AND PINK. It makes me think of…Dunkin Donuts! ๐Ÿ˜€

And on the topic of school, these last photos were taken at Fresno City College at sunset, as the deep orange sun rays danced across the buildings. My friend and I walked around the campus, admiring the architecture while sipping our coffees and chatting about our time there. I spent one semester at this school waaaaaay back in the day before I transferred to Fresno State University! It was nice to revisit it and appreciate the architectural beauty, especially during this time of year when autumn is slowly transitioning into winter. โค๏ธ

See ya next time!!

Desert Time

Not to be confused with dessert time, but it also applies to this post just the same because of my delicious FRAPPUCINO. โ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿ’•

I googled whether or not the area of California I live in is considered somewhat of a desert and I learned: “The Central Valley has a hot Mediterranean climate in the north; the southerly parts of the region are dry and categorized as desert.” Well, I live in the CENTRAL Central Valley, so we get the best of both worlds: lush vegetation AND desert-like regions, depending on the time of year! ๐ŸŒด๐ŸŒบ

Right now it’s very dry, and I love that. I’m drawn to the desert look, and I had the pleasure of walking around this beautiful new housing development called Tesoro Viejo on the outskirts of Fresno, equipped with a super cool coffee shop I’ve been to before and was excited to go back to with my friend!! This is my first time going to sit on a patio somewhere since the quarantine began, so I was quite happy. โ˜•๏ธ

I definitely frolicked around and I looked just like this happy puppy

This coffee shop, called Axis, is amazing with a beautiful patio area. I loved the see-through banners placed on the fence (my view from the table).

I definitely felt like I was in a desert, when I happened upon these little green bushes spaced out between each other on the ground. Something about the warm, dirt tones of a desert landscape ignites the imagination for me!

This fun skirt is actually my mom’s, handed down to me. I had it cut (it used to be ankle length) and hemmed. Yeah! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’• I’m glad I wore this bright skirt, as it stood out against the scenery today.

See ya next time!

Kiss the Go-Goat!!!

Hellooooooooooo! ๐Ÿ˜

Last night, I saw Ghost live in concert in Bakersfield, CA! It was their first concert of the 2019 Fall Tour. This was my 3rd time seeing them live for the past 3 years in a row!

What made this concert different for me were two things: 1) I went alone, and 2) I sat in a seated section for a change (which turned out to be a better experience for me!)

Bakersfield is around 110 miles away from where I live, so it was close to a two hour drive. I challenged myself to just go to the concert alone and experience it as a solo adventure! And I’m glad I did!

The day of the concert, Friday the 13th, is the same day they released their new two-song EP album, Seven Inches of Satanic Panic. It features the dreamy, hypnotic “Mary On a Cross”, and my personal favorite, “Kiss the Go-Goat”, which sounds like it came straight out of the swinging sixties…kind of like my DRESS I WORE TO THE CONCERT! โค๏ธ

Super groovy, no??? I modified the sleeves myself into the bell shape! ๐Ÿ˜€

Now…for the concert photos!

What can I say?!?! I love this band so much and it’s been a journey experiencing their music over the years. I was ecstatic when they played Kiss the Go-Goat live for the first time ever, since it debuted that very day!

Guy next to me: “Cool outfit! Is it inspired by the song?” [Best compliment of the evening!]

Actually, I planned the outfit a week before the song even came out, and it turned out the music video released for it is set in 1969 and has groovy gals in groovy dresses in it. So it just coincidentally looked like it COULD have been one of the outfits in the video!

My super sixties hairdo just added to it even more. But in reality, I just looked like everyday me, and not dressed out of the ordinary for the concert! ๐Ÿ˜€

But it’s cool, because even the singer in the video had an ultra cool sixties ‘do. We’re bringing it back, no? โค๏ธ

It was a beautiful night, equipped with new hit songs and…guess what? Plague doctors.

The entire arena went dead silent. It was in-between songs, and out of nowhere the strangest, most unsettling sound was played loudly through the speakers. I can’t even describe it, but it was very loud bass…and just sounded extremely eerie, unlike any sound I’d ever heard. Even the guy seated next to me looked over at me in question.

And then through the thick fog, descended these plague doctors with the famous beak masks, creeping out slowly and peering out over the audience.

Did I let out a little squeak scream for a second? You bet I did. Half because it looked scary as HECK and with the scary sound playing I had no idea what was happening, but then it was also a fan-girl scream, because I have for years had a strong fascination and love for the plague doctor outfit.

โค๏ธ WAS IT A GREAT NIGHT? You bet! Will it go down in my little memory book of Ghost concert moments? Naturally! โค๏ธ

See you next time!!

Shootin’ Some Hoops

๐Ÿ’œ Howdy, folks!! Happy start of the week! ๐Ÿ’œ

I made sure to document this, because I’m not a sporty person. Or so I thought…

I’ve acquired a liking for shootin’ some HOOPS. This was all my idea and one of my friends agreed it’d be fun to play some light-hearted basketball, so off to the court we went in the evening. I’ve been wanting to try new things, so this was a great chance!

I had a blast!! I’m sure it was quite a sight to see me running around the court, dribbling the ball, and jumping mid-air to shoot the basketball into the hoop. My friend and I played around the world, and surprisingly, I won. BOOM!

What did I prove? That you can do anything in a dress!

I’m going to continue playing basketball for fun. Next activity I want to try? Roller skating!

And for your entertainment, here are some pictures of me randomly standing in the road:

Proof that I’m totally pigeon-toed…

As you can see, I’ve been wearing lots of green lately! ๐Ÿ’š It was a really fun weekend, and I also had lunch with my long-lost grandfather and long-lost cousin I just recently met for the first time! So that was really lovely. ๐Ÿ’œ

What about you, dear reader? Good weekend? Is there an activity you’ve wanted to try before, but haven’t yet? Basketball, check! Roller skating…soon!

See ya!!

Christmas Fun and My Newly Acquired Fairy Wand

Hallรฅ!!! ๐ŸŽ„

Everyone has their own personal feelings about Christmas time. Some feel that magical joy, others may feel indifferent, and then some may not like it at all for various reasons of their own.

Me? I absolutely looooooove this time of year! BRING IT ON!!!

I took some photos at a local Christmas tree farm recently. It was an enchanting little place that only fueled my already-existing Christmas cheer I’ve been all about lately!

My “not ready for the camera” face…also, this photo accurately shows just how short I am.ย

This bow is literally a Christmas decoration from Dollar Tree. I turned it into a clip-on pin, and there you have it! I immediately turn into a Christmas present. ๐ŸŽ

I hope you all feel the Christmas magic in some way, shape, or form. There’s plenty of it to be found; all you have to do is look around, really. โค๏ธ

I have my Christmas shopping complete! My favorite part is wrapping it all up and making it look pretty. In addition to the main gifts, I included pink snowflake confetti, chocolates, German cinnamon star cookies (Zimtsterne)…I went all out!

In my next post, I will show you my gift wrapping! ๐Ÿ’œ

In other news, I now have a squishy wand in my purse, if I ever need it. For anything. Like maybe, granting a wish, turning a pumpkin into a carriage, self-defense against an assailant, etc. It’s very multi-purpose.

Assailant sitting in jail: “Yeah I went to purse-snatch this woman but she bludgeoned me over the head with a fairy wand.”ย

This great wand was given to me when I went walking down Candy Cane Lane to see Christmas lights with a group of adorable human beings who dress in Lolita fashion.

DID I MENTION IT LIGHTS UP IN BURSTS OF FLASHES??? ๐ŸŒŸย So not only is it a wand, but it can also be used to have a spontaneous one-woman rave, wherever I go.

Lastly…I put up my PINK CHRISTMAS TREE!!!

I have always wanted a pink tree! I finally did it and went with a Barbie theme for the ornaments. I absolutely love it and it turned out just as lovely as I envisioned! ๐Ÿ’–

‘Til next time!!!

Harajuku Night

IMG_5562 (1)

What a Saturday it’s been! I’m happy to share a fun event I attended tonight calledย Harajuku Night, which was a Japanese Fashion show and concert!

Screen Shot 2018-11-13 at 11.59.43 AM

I was invited to take part in the fashion show, which was totally new and different for me! The J-fashion style that I resonate with the most is hime gyaru, which consists of lots of pink, pastels, florals, bows and big hair.ย ย ๐Ÿ’œย I incorporated those elements into my ensemble, of course!

There were lots of other girls and guys who took part in the fashion show, and I actually ended up being the most casually dressed of the bunch, haha!! Everyone looked amazing. ๐ŸŒธ

You know, if you’d have asked me years ago if I would have the courage to get on stage for a fashion show, I’d probably sayย no way.ย I am really thankful that I’ve grown confidence as I’ve gotten older!

Takin’ the stage…a deer in the headlights!!!

PhEri is an adorable, Southern California-based musical duo who performed after the fashion show, and were the main act. You can check out their Instagram here. They were SOOOOOOOO CUUUUUUTTEEEEEEEEEEEEEE… ๐Ÿ’œ

So glad I got to chat with them and take a photo! Totally fun night and a neat experience for me!!! โค๏ธย Aren’t they just the epitome of cuteness?!

I hope you all are having a fun weekend! See ya again soon!

Thirty-one? Thirty-Fun!

IMG_5519 (2)

Hello there!!! ๐Ÿ’œ

I hope you all are having a splendid week! I wanted to share some photos from my 31st birthday with you guys!

Sit back…and enjoy! ๐ŸŽย ๐ŸŽ‰

Alright, so I wore a tiara all day. This was strangely on my bucket list in life…wear a tiara on my birthday. CHECK!

I received some reeeeally puzzled looks from people but, that’s okay with me. ๐Ÿ™ƒย I was happy as a clam!

IMG_5529 (1)

Can I just say how much I looooooove my sparkly tights I bought off of Amazon?! They just add so much fun to an outfit! I’m obsessed with these!

Some snapshots of lovely gifts I received and yummy foodย ๐Ÿ’œย :

I finished the day off with Indian food – my favorite!

This was a fantastic birthday; I’m thankful for another year on this beautiful planet! I love being in my thirties…it’s honestly the happiest I’ve ever been. ๐Ÿ’œ

I hope you enjoyed…have a beautiful day!

See ya!

Felt like Being a Cat

The title says it all.

Felt like being a cat today, and so a cat I was.

IMG_5418 (1)

I love this outfit because it looks somewhat professional, but the final touch is like, JUST KIDDING, CHECK OUT MY CAT EARS.

Sometimes I wonder how eccentric I will be if I live to be an old lady? Probably very eccentric, to make an honest guess. I aspire to be that little old quirky lady who lives by herself in her cute little house with…no pets, honestly. A nice garden will do!

I hope you all have copious amounts of Thanksgiving food and enjoy your holiday! ๐Ÿ˜€ย Share and spread that attitude of gratitude! โค๏ธ

Spider Head

Happy Halloweeeeeeeeen!!!

I hope you all enjoyed your day, no matter what you did! Whether it be a big party or something low key, or even nothing at all, I hope it was good! ๐Ÿ˜€

Moi? I really didn’t do anything big…this evening I did hang out with my sister and mom at the pumpkin patch they work at, as I eyed the cool outfits and costumes people had on. Boooooooooooom.

The most exciting thing today was my outfit. I pieced it all together and I was essentially a goth version of myself, laden with spiders.

Pretty much I will find any excuse to wear gloves. AREN’T THEY NICE????

The spider pin is another lovely, unique creation fromย The Tote Trove!!! As I’m sure you know by now, I am a big fan of her accessories and this one paired perfectly with my Halloween ensemble. โ™ฅ Just the right pop of color!

Some snap shots from this week, of NOTE!

A LIGHT BULB. I am still talking about this thing, and still showing this photo to unsuspecting people.

“I drank Vietnamese coffee in a light bulb!” I say, ecstatically.

Okay, it’s not a real light bulb, but a plastic version of one! And the bottle is a good size (not super small like a typical light bulb). The adorable cookie next to it is a macaron. This place I went to – a boba tea shop called Sweet Lyfe – is like a dream come true. You can drink your beverage in a fake light bulb and eat a unicorn (or a narwhal!) macaron.

I went there with some super cool people who are alternative fashion enthusiasts (particularly Japanese fashion), and we all had a great time!!!

And then I stumbled upon this in the parking lot…

THE SCOOBY DOO VAN. That’s right; it was parked at the shopping center, being the absolutely perfect photo opportunity.ย  Whoever owns it did an amaaaaazing job bringing it to life!

Flower power… ๐ŸŒธ

Also, after wearing all black for just one day on Halloween, I’m already experiencing brutal withdrawals from pastels and bright colors!

Let the holiday season begin! See ya next time!

Frolicking Amongst the Pumpkins

Well howdy!!! This Sunday afternoon, I went to the happenin’ Pumpkin Patch where my sister sells her jewelry each year. I hung out for awhile with my mom and sister, enjoyed the crowd and the music, and also took some photos. ‘Twas a great time! ๐ŸŽƒ

All pumpkins are beautiful, am I right? ๐Ÿ™‚

On a side note: Saturday evening, I had the wonderful privilege to set up my art table at an art party downtown. It was SO MUCH FUN. I sold two of my framed art, which was totally unexpected!!! I also had new items I made: two brooches, two headbands and a jewelry box. โค

My table was in the perfect spot: right up front where the musicians were. The weather was perfect, the set up was perfect…all in all, just a great night. One of the best parts was when I excitedly geeked out when I saw a fellow artist wearing a Ghost shirt. LOL!

Catch ya later!ย ๐ŸŽƒ
