Auto Fail: The Big Fat Freaking Disaster Beneath My Feet

Poor Jude… (that’s my car’s name, by the way). He’s my SPECIAL BOY! ❤️

Who knew as I drove around town, blissfully unaware, that major auto repairs were festering like an active volcano beneath my little feet?

This whole story is basically a huge stereotype brought to life! 😄 I bring my car into the shop because it was overheating if I turned on the AC…and what do ya know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Suddenly there are like 8 zillion other issues brought to my attention – including a major one besides the overheating – an OIL LEAK.

Unbeknownst to me, a Hollywood-mansion-pool-size oil leak was seeping on some stuff under the car. Never noticed any oil dots on the asphalt when I parked, though – however! They did show me the actual leak itself, and I got to stand underneath my floating car and see the leak in all its glistening glory (which was actually cool!) Basically, it looked like my car peed its pants.

Also didn’t realize when I turned on the AC, hot air was blowing from the passenger side (it blew fairly cold air from my side, though.) I had a total Cher-from-Clueless moment when I told the mechanics, “Oh!! But like, no one is ever in my passenger seat, so I didn’t know the air was blowing hot?” That triggered some laughter on their part, as I think I gave away more about my personal life than I’d intended (translating to: I’m literally the only person ever in my car, hahaaaa!)

Once I found out the price of all this, my eyeballs nearly flew out of my head at lightning speed. WORD OF ADVICE: GET A TUNE-UP AT RECOMMENDED INTERVALS (IF YOU ARE ABLE TO), PEEPS! Find out if you, too, have an active volcano festering under your feet when you drive, far below the abyss of the brake pedals. As a social media marketing manager for several auto shops, I have no excuse to have not gotten a tune-up long ago! I write content about this stuff for work alllll the time, and yet I didn’t take my own advice! That way little problems can be caught early.

Anyway, moving on! Here’s a fun outfit as of recently…because fashion always makes life more fun, even during the rollercoaster times! 😁😁😁

MEOW!
Skirt: Thrifted
Shirt: Target (Cat & Jack), Purse: DIY by me!

And that’s your auto lesson for the day! See ya next time folks! Vroooooom! 🚗💨

  1. Oh Nooo! 😅 Only you could turn a car crisis into a comedy show with style and grace… Praying for smooth rides ahead, no more glistening leaks, and lots of AC from BOTH sides … 🙏🚗

  2. I take our cars in for regular tuneups and oil changes, and every time I take one or the other car in there is a new laundry list of things that need attention. Doing regular maintenance just spreads the pain out a little more. Before I ended up with Jake, no one was in my passenger seat, either. We normally take my wife’s car when we go places together. And now we have to drive her car if we both go somewhere togerher to have enough room for Jake. If you haven’t guessed, we’ve had to make major changes to accomodate Jake. I love your kitty-ears hair clips.

  3. Oh no!!! I’ve always haaaated auto repairs 😔 I’m so sorry. And isn’t that always the case – you go in for one thing and they find so many other things 😵‍💫 Ugh. But you look super cute tho! I hope Jude is healthy and back on the road in no time 💖

  4. Oh no, how utterly terrible! This is every driver’s nightmare, bringing your car in for one little thing and coming out with a CVS receipt-length list of super expensive repairs. That said, I really enjoyed reading this. You tell your tale so vividly, right down to the “Hollywood-mansion-pool-size oil leak”, Clueless reference, and “it looked like my car peed its pants.” I love how you can find the humor in even a horrible situation and use it to fuel your creativity. Of course, what you say about the importance of tune-ups is so true. I’ve driven every car I’ve ever had until it died but thankfully never went through what you did. Message received! 😮🚗🤣
